Apologies for the slightly funny title :)

Anyway, I'm wondering what balls y'all use on your home table.

I just bought a set of Aramith Super ProCup TV balls. My table will be here sometime towards the end of the month or in early February.

i usually play with the Aramith Super Pro, but also have the Centennials. however, the Centennials look so nice, i dont really like to play with them so i can keep them shiny and nice to look at.

what kind of table are you getting?
fill us in.

Ever notice ...

How the more involved Players get in Pool, they
have a tendency to go to everyday equipment
and 'formal' equipment .... ROFL And people wonder
about what and if the next type of cue out will sell .... lol

Aramith pro balls but I didnt get the brown and pink tv balls though. If your gonna record on the table and it matters enough, I'd get the pink and brown set. If you've never had a home table, get ready to have a blast. I got my first home table a year ago and my home has turned into the party home for all my friends. Cheers.

9' Olhausen Huntington (01C-401-4D001-000-168) with spruce (the dark dark green) Simonis 860. The rest you can see in that little link there.

We're finishing out a "bonus room" to hold the table. I'm excited.

I doubt, to answer a later question, I'll do much filming. I just liked the pink and brown a little more than the stock colors. Though the whole red/orange/pink trio (stripes AND solids) are pretty close to each other in color.

I have a set of Aramiths marked "Standard" for backup. I don't think I'll use them because I've heard that lesser quality balls can lead to more burn marks.

Centennials here! I just like the way they look. Although, the way I have heard it, they are made in the same factory (Aramith and Brunswick). Although I can not prove this myself. Maybe someone else can explain this or find an older post if you are really needing to know.

Dear friends,

My table is a 9' SAM K-Steel

Simonis 860 cloth

Aramith Super ProCup TV balls

I am very happy with all this equipment!

I've heard that too. But then again, so are the various Aramith models, and they're different.

Great point. I was just thinking, that most of us see these 2 as the top sets and they do feel the same. So I was refering to those two sets being the same internal make-up. Sorry I wasn't more clear. I think Centennials are also like $70 US more, but I have not priced these for quite some time.

I'm so jealous, i have a set of Wally Worlds specials. Hand me downs actually, but i would love to have the Elephant Beautiful Balls.
*Going to have to get a red marker and make my own acne cueball lol.

Centennials

Centennials ( about 30 years old IIRC ) and a measles cue ball from Aramith.

I play on this my buddies table alot with Cents and we switch between Cent cue ball and Measel cue Ball. There is a difference. I have no reason or actual stats but both Smitty and I make more 8 ball breaks with the blue circle than the measel. We also have a Justa bridge and a Wheelie bridge. He provides the table. I supply the toys!

As you can see, Mr. Wilson watches over us as we play also.

Dark Green 860

Iacas, I see your gonna get the Dark Green 860 Simonis. I bought the same thing when I bought my table because it goes well with the dark matte finish on my table. I have an 9' Olhausen too. I thought I'd mention though that since I've been playing on it for over a year, I've noticed that particular color seems to absorb a ton of light and the corners of my table look darker than the rest of the table. My light is a 4 light RAM with 4 60 watt bulbs, but you couldn't tell. I've been seriously considering going to halogen bulbs to hopefully lighten it up a bit. The next time I recover the table, I don't think I'm gonna use the same color. The bulbs are 32" from the slate. Anyone else use this cloth??

Custom balls. I wouldn't play with anything that is generically sold to common folk like yourselves.;)

Custom balls.
Yeah, I play with custom balls myself. I don't like playing with balls that are completely spherical, so I spec my balls to be slightly egg-shaped such that they wobble to the right to compensate for my crooked stroke. ;)

Seriously though, what exactly do you mean by "custom balls"? I admit I don't know a lot about equipment, so I'm assuming you just mean that you customized the outward appearance (paint) of the balls, but the weight, size, and material are standard. Is there a standard/specification for weight, size, material for pool balls?...or do they allow for slightly different specs like golf balls?

My understanding is - The differences between Aramith variations, besides aesthetics, is the tollerance they are rounded to. I suspect the Pro's have another go on the "machine" that makes them round.

I have also heard the Centenials were made by Aramith. I don't think this was a secret. I thought I read it "officially", once apon a time...

I have a set of Super Aramith Pros. Also have the Pro Cup CB that was not included in the set.

BTW - The Pro Cup CB is bigger than a brand new set of Aramith Pros... Just barely, bigger... Not as noticable as a "used" set that has been compressed, via play... I think Aramith painted spots on standard balls and then refinished them. The finish makes it a hair bigger. I wish they just made a "real" run of Pro Cups so the balls would be the same size...

Twelve years ago I had the opportunity to buy a set of Centenniel balls for only $85, which I did. A couple years later I bought a set for my Dad's table for $135. Now they're over $220. Yikes!!
