Your opponent pockets a ball, but the ball jumps back out of the pocket

I once had a guy tell me on an older table that he hit it into the side pocket with force on a power shot, and it popped out the other side pocket. I don't know what i'd do then.

On your question, that's why you don't slam the balls around.

best,

Justin

I would like to ask our veteran members whether this is possible or not.

I consider their turn over.

Basically it's an equipment defect. Those cause a lot of balls to stay up that should have dropped (badly cut facings making a ball rattle, an unlevel table making a ball roll off, or a filthy cue ball causing a skid).

It sucks to get screwed by the equipment, I feel a little bad for them... but I will continue that game.

If we're just playing around, we may decide to switch to another table or even another room.
I like the custom at Dano's pool hall.

You are a cool person. Your threads are stimulating and thought provoking. You are simply amazing Chris...simply amazing!

lol like in my sig? Ball stays where it stops moving. whether its on the table or in the pocket.

Yes, that's the one. It happened twice in a row, but I can't recall the YouTube video it's shown in. It wasn't the one previously posted.

There is a video of it happening in competition, 8 ball hits the bottom of the pocket and jumps back onto the table. Player's (Efren I believe) inning is ended, other player attempts the same shot, it happens again (Busty IIRC). Someone also has a GIF of it in their signature.

.

There is an accu-stats highlite vol 1, At 36:00 of the video Jim Mataya breaks and the 5 ball goes in the corner pocket and comes back out. Both players thought a ball was pocketed on the break. According to Buddy Hall and Billy I (who were the commentators)once 2 balls were shot the rack stands... They called it "The Phantom 5 Ball"

Of course...start all the threads you want but you could sum up your last couple of them with ONE more....

"Should the imposition of a penaly for a foul be left EXCLUSIVELY up to the opponent regarding ANY rule infraction?"

So, those saintly folks who don't want to win based on the bad luck of the opponent can let their opponents continue to shoot if they feel like it.

Then, we could read all about how "unethical/immoral" it would be for a player NOT to give the opponent a pass!!! (-:

I just laugh in my sleeve when tournament players/gamblers wave their hand in the "gee I'm sorry for the lucky roll" gesture when IN FACT they are THRILLED they got the roll!!!

This is funny cause it just happened to me Sat in a Tourney. The ball didn't stay down so the ball is not in. Bad roll.
