Your thoughts on best single layered tip

Lepro.

Ive tried every single layered tip out there, and ofcourse its back to preference. Each guy will prefer something other than me.

But for myself, it has always been a lepro, nothing beats a good lepro for me.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll try a Ki-Tech soft or medium and go from there. I may try making my own milk duds since I have some extra Elk Masters

Definitely try the Ki-Tech. I think the medium is about the same hardness as a Kamui black soft. Maybe even a hair softer. I think I would LOVE the new medium hard Ki-Tech. For me the ideal hardness is about 1/2 way between a Kamui black soft and medium.

Hope this helps,

KMRUNOUT

After reading this thread, I bought the sample pack of ki-tech tips.
I put on the medium one because people on here said it played like a good old triangle ( which I've played with for 20 yrs+).
It is sooo soft, the lathe just chopped it down instead of cutting it down.
When I hit the cue ball, it goes 'thuudd'!
It mushroomed after 2 racks of 9 ball.
Glad I only paid $20+ for them.
No more 'outsville' fo me, you got me once, thats it.

I completely agree with this, but it gets harder and harder to find a good Triangle. I have high hopes for Ki-Tech.

Hi Fred, not sure who repairs your cues local here, but Frankie Doodle has Triangle tips, he got me using them about 8 or 9 years ago, I was a LepRo user from the 70's. Now I love the Triangle tips, good hit and feel for me and I dont have to re-shape them, cause I suck at that LOL.:D

Nothing better than a good Triangle or a Triangle with a fiber pad...IMO
Except Jeff / pooldawg8 milk duds

A local cue repair told me that Triangle makes up most of his replacements. I asked Mike Lambros what his preferred tip is and it is also Triangle.

I would bet that most cue makers use them unless something else is requested.

🎱

Triangle Tips repressed to just the right hardness is the best single layered playing tip for me. And for single layered leather break jump tips it is the Mad Man.

A lot of the cues I have from the 90's still have the original Lepro tips.
It's interesting how the original Lepro's on older cues play pretty good, when the
Lepro tips on newer cues hit like crap, even the double pressed Lepro's.
I'm starting to think that a good Triangle with a fiber pad is the way to go.
Triangle should come out with their version of the "clear">>>

Since getting back to playing, I have been using mostly Ultra Skins and Kamui. I really like the hit but the thing that I don't like is getting to the end of a layer to have glue or a small piece of the leftover layer cause me to miscue or throw the cue ball off slightly.

So I'm thinking about trying some single layered tips. I've seen good feedback on the Ki-Techs. Anything else used and liked out there???

I like the Ki-tech medium, Jeff's Milkduds, good triangle or Le Pro...all very good tips.

Triangle and LePro's are too iffy now.I've tried too many tips to list. The best that I've found are Jeff/pooldawg8's milkduds for a couple of my cues and a Water Buffalo tip sold by Seyberts listed as "Schon" tips on a couple other cues. Both tips have been great,(for me),and I break hard with either with zero mushrooming, very little maintenance !!!
