Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

I’ve been doing pretty good with cues the last few months. It’s a matter of knowing what to buy and when to sell. I like to do deals, I’m not looking for max profit in every trade. I just like the action.
That's the way to be. It's the action, it's fun.

If one is getting butt hurt over the money, find something more fun to do, and maybe more profitable.

I always knew what to buy but too dumb to sell. Most of mine are production cues. Never used or hit a rack and stored. I might sell some this Summer. Could get back what I paid plus change but no big money. Maybe I’ll buy more cues with the proceeds. Nice cycle huh😂
Sounds like me! 👍👍💪

I think the big and even the newer emerging cue companies are doing a great job finding player representatives who actively endorse their products. It seems to me a crucial component being able to sell production woodware for such high prices... with demand!

Maybe. But as we’ve all seen, players change cue sponsors like underwear. They chose their cues based on who’s the high bidder after their contract is up. Not how good a cue plays.

If you ever watch those “whats in the case” videos, 95% of the pros can’t even articulate what they like about a cue and why.

I can't remember who it was, but it was a professional race car driver. He was asked a technical question about the car and he started out with "Well, I am really not a car person but...."

Yeah, so there is that.

Lot's of people are excellent at what they do while not being experts about the equipment they use to do it.

100%. And those guys will be able to take a kia hatchback and lap me in my sportscar. Pros can run racks with a broom stick. So when I see someone like Shaw for example (who’s been through Meucci, Peri, J Flowers, etc) it doesn’t mean much to me when he promotes the cues he uses saying his new xyz cue is the best ever, with no real explanation why. And then two years later has moved on to another cue sponsor with more $$$

On the other hand, someone like Alex Pagulayan can articulate how and why he likes what he uses on just about every part of the cue. That can at least help me make a decision if the cue he uses is similar to what I would like or not. Simply saying it plays good or you like the feel doesn’t hold much weight to me in my opinion.

A lot of guys just like "The action of the transaction"... cues, coins, guitars all the same. That keeps things interesting. Other than that, I have become cynical, and I have disdain for the nits as of late. As I get older my fuse gets shorter and my tolerance for stupidity gets tested daily.

Noted. I'll try to keep my own stupidity to a minimum but I can't speak for everybody else. I am not sure who is in charge of that. ;)

'Nit Avoidance' has become an increasingly difficult endeavor. ;)

I hate that. I want a product that is as described and packed/shipped properly. All I want to do is say thanks and all went well. As for the Action Of Transaction.... at my stage of life nothing excites me 😂...and I mean that.

My mid-life crisis never ended...and it started early.
I just never grew up.

My beard is about to my belly button. I was out with my wife yesterday and a dude said "Hey! ZZ Top! How long did it take you to grow that?" I said it started when I was 14.... In med school I rode a straight pipe chopper into an auditorium classroom. I was late for pathology lecture. The dean loved me. :ROFLMAO:

Grow up....That's the worst thing a person can do. I'm still in Jr. High. The world is a playground. My biggest complaint... I could have been a decent pool player... I spent too much time at work😂.
To stay on topic...I'm done buying cues...I have more cues than brains....however if a beautiful Rich came my way for a decent price I'd get one.... just to fondle and remind of the early days.

Look good. Feel good. Feel good, play good.

Lets face it a merry widow doesn't have the charm or look as a 4 pointer, veneers, decked out with a few mother of pearls. A big expensive, cue or anything well constructed shows on the table. Whether your opponent is shooting with a badass cue or you're shooting with a fancy cue, it stands out from the crowd. Its aesthetic pleasing for the audience. My pool room have a few tables near the bar where sometimes people watch you. You want to look your best with your best cue. LOL

I'm quite bored of looking at everyone playing with the shooting equipment or the competition equipment. Black cue black carbon shaft combo.

I already own the best shooting cue on the market.
