your weaknesses

what are your weaknesses in the game?

I rarely take the defensive option when I'm playing...feel like I always have to try for the shot.

I need to work more on the strenght control. Its either a little bit too soft or too hard and that is pityless for positionning control.

My break sucks! I should be given the breaks as a handicap from everyone! It would be an advantage to them..................

Sometimes when I get into a rhythm, I tend to shoot too fast, and I neglect to look at the entire table, or I stand up in mid-stroke, or I rush the shot. It has literally taken me years to slow down my pace, my breathing, and my stroke. It is a constant battle, and it has prevented me from winning matches that were "in the bag".

I read a lot of bad threads....

Just kidding. I think my main weakness, as it relates to pool, is that sometimes I do not take the time to properly plan. I also do not pick an exact optimal place for the cue ball for the next shot. A wise player told me what this really was and the reason for it but that is another story and another day.

I have been Married for coming up on 8 years now, but i still look at other women. This during a set can be very distracting if there wearing a short skirt or a sexy outfit.

Safes.

I play them, and try to play then when I can, just they dont always work out like I want them too.

Focus is mine especially when playing a weaker player. I will tend to get bored and lazy and that that will stay with me for a couple of sets.

My problem is I take it too seriously......and because of that, if I miss a few shots or miss an easy one, I get really pissed at myself, which sometimes makes my game even worse.

I need to learn to just have fun with it, the problem is I really hate to lose. :) :)

i have the same problem with the guys on campus... so i've started giving ridiculous spots.... its always for no money... so theres nothing to lose... if i'm playing a REALLY bad player, i shoot with my jump cue and use the table brush when theirs not a ball in front of me.... i rarely win... but i am getting better with the jumper... sometimes i'll bank every shot....

i find when i do that, the person i'm playing is happy to have a chance to win, and it turns into more practice for me.

Currently, my biggest weakness is my performance under pressure. Since starting to play again, I am struggling bringing my practice mindset (game), which is pretty strong, to the tournament table. I know I will overcome this. I just need to quit trying so hard to prove to everyone I can still play a little.

My vision is my recent weakness. At 53 I am now trying progressive vision lenses and for the last month it has been an adventure but I am coming around and got 3rd place last week. Feels good to get a few $'s back!!

shooting too fast is on of my weakness...but at same time it is a plus...it is hard to play against fearless fast players.........the other is focus/desire....sometimes it is there...other times it is not.........it seems at times my greatest weakness can be my best strengths at other times....yo yo syndrom

my whole game

lol... But seriously, I have a horrible break. I seem to lose control of the cueball quite often and scratch. Concentration would have to be one. As other posters have said, I don't keep that same level when playing weaker players. I also find that if I get into the hot seat of a tournament, I often cannot turn it back on when it is time to play the finals. I have many more I'm sure.

I hope that someday I can meet some of you people. I would love to see what the next level of pool playing is all about.

I am the same way.

Gambling with players who are better than me, when I haven't played in a day, week, or month and still have this ridiculous self-confidence (or stupidity) that I'm going to play at my best level and should beat them. Of course, I'm not asking for weight either. I guess...PRIDE is my greatest weakness.

Ditto. Couldn't have said it better.

My safety play lately blows goats....I like to use rollup safety where I try and roll the CB up to a blocking OB but I roll right past or it will glance off and leave a straight in open shot....

On a positive note my kick and stick safety has improved in it's place...:D

Playing stupid, low percentage shots when there is an easy safety to be had.
Then there is taking the eye off the ball when worrying too much about perfect position.
Efren was once asked about position play, he replied something to the effect of, I dont think of where I want the cueball to stop, I think about where I dont want it to stop.
