Porper linen press

I picked this one up a while back. seems to be working pretty well.
I was also interested in that one, but wondered how much more in tariffs, lol. So, I just decided to make a press for less $...

Question for old timers@

Leather tannage doesn't really affect glueability unless the surface is coated with a finish. Vegtan is glued all the time for footwear and other crafts. Surface prep is the most important, I find that allowing the the glue to penetrate the leather first, then sanding it flat gives the most consistent gluing results. Also, thickness/type of glue plays a role.
I like more natural veg tan leather like on the instroke cowboy cases. The kind of leather that is a bit self-healing. My friend said that oiliness hurts glue adherence. It reminds me of soft tips.

Frank "The Barber" Almanza

Many moons ago I was in SoCal and Frank and I tried to get together to play some 1pocket.

From our brief conversation, and by reputation, I knew he was a good guy, super friendly. He wanted me to come over his house to play but I figured if I was going to let The Barber give me the Sweeney Todd shave I wanted at least neutral territory and regrettably we weren't able to get together.

RIP, Frank.

Lou Figueroa
You missed out, he had a sweet Centennial and a real barber chair in his pool room. He sold his table when he moved to Sun City.
