Forum Collaboration for a Product

Would anybody be interested in a group collaboration for an AZ Billiards product? I think that this would be a fun project, since many of us like to make stuff.

The goal would be to market and sell a premium product with the profits going where ever they need to, probably to maintain the site, etc. It would be a brainstorm and a vote, and someone better at human organization than me would need to lead things. I can only help technically.

For example, a simple idea would be a hand cleaner similar to Fast Orange, but without the pumice. I've always liked how you can use it anywhere without water, and I think it would be useful for pool / billiards.

Is there anything you've wanted to see exist? Open discussion.
I like your original idea however Tub O’ Towels makes single packets of hand cleaning wipes as well as larger packages. They do not have pumice, they’re like a thin, wet towel soaked in cleaner. I know you can buy them at O’Reilly Auto Parts but I imagine you can buy them at other places. I have used them to clean my cues with no ill effects. Unfortunately I do not have another idea for you.

Yapp’s Controversial Tournament-Winning Shot in the 8-Ball World Championship … Was it a Foul?

Its difficult for billiard business to get the manpower / help needed to referee a match along with training. Most likely these people have never played pool to a degree and are just looking for an obvious foul. I don't know what they are paid and hours worked during a tournament.
I went to watch a World 14.1 Championship in New York. A friend told me the first day, "They're a little shorthanded." I put my hand up. No training, one bizarre rule added, and I reffed 24 two-hour matches in seven days. $5/match, calling each ball and the run total on each shot.

Yapp’s Controversial Tournament-Winning Shot in the 8-Ball World Championship … Was it a Foul?

I wasn't watching the match, so this is my first look at the final shot.

While I figured this was a foul based on cue ball direction, I don't think it was as obvious as the Capito foul vs Lechner in 2025. It's bizarre that referees don't understand the principles governing good and bad hits when two object balls are near each other. So often, cue ball direction and/or speed will make the call obvious, but referees need better training. In the end, the referee clearly lacked the needed understanding to call a foul, and given this, could not logically call a foul here. I view this as a "lack of knowledge" situation, not a "grossly mistaken call" situation. Based on the referee's knowledge, the right call was made. Still, referees who don't have the knowledge to judge these situations should not get the nod in the final of a world championship.

Drills to correct your alignment

I do not interpret Fels’ advice as “slow roll” every shot. He’s saying stop hitting the balls too hard, if you are, which many do. They’re called “bangers” for a reason. There is a speed not so slow as to risk roll off and not too fast as to rattle the ball.
Once a player starts playing specific position on every shot, there is only one right speed for the position they are playing. I think George's advice was not for those players; he was speaking to the players who tend to use four-length speed on many shots.

There are a few exceptions to this, such as straight shots that can be played with an entire range of speeds to achieve a precise position. The main exception for pro players is the game ball, and often they play that shot with their most comfortable speed, which is not pocket speed.
