3 things you would change about pool

i wouldn't mind a word like pot in my native language. we only have the equivalent of "shot", but it doesn't differentiate between a shot into a pocket, a miss or a safety shot
always accompanied by "he is going to pot the whatever into the whatever" or "he missed the pot on the whatever" or "his ball potting isn't great" replace the word pot with a word that actually makes sense, pocket(ing, ed, etc).

There are no pots anywhere on or around POCKET BILLIARD tables.

It's completely stupid and has infected American style commentary at the urging of Matchroom. Jeremy Jones and Scott Frost never said the word pot before in their lives before MR made/encouraged/persuaded them.

Anyone hear from Al Bautista

My son has been waiting for a cue from him for a while, and has been in touch sooner than a few years ago. However despite a lot of talk about the cue will be done soon, it seems he went into the too common cuemaker mode where nothing appears despite the promises and timelines given.
From my transactions with Al he seems like a very trustworthy person. I'm afraid the delays may not be neglect but health related. Was just trying to see if anyone has talked with him recently.

Historical marquetry cues help!

Historically it’s a shame they were chopped, but there’s no turning back time. They are what they are now so they can be displayed as is or have them rejuvenated into a new cue and live for another hundred years.

I just got an old Titlist that was chopped. I am turning it into a new modern player.

You have a wonderful find. Good luck with them.

any really tall pro players?

It's my impression that tall guys use long cues because they don't have much of a natural stroke with a short cue. By contract, a short guy using a long cue doesn't make sense to me. He'd have to spread his arms out too far just to get his hands on the wrap area. Big guys use big things. Uh oh, did I say that...
I was a golfer before I was a pool player…..use the right club for the shot….my 57 inch cue hits stronger than longer ones and I still got three inches behind my right hand.
I feel the cue should accommodate the cue ball….it’s up to me to make the adjustments.

French Lick Resort

Was that Mizerak's Senior US Open back in November of 1999? The one won by Howard Vickery?

I was in attendance a couple of those nights.

And Nick Varner lives in Owensboro but grew up in Tell City, Indiana. About 45 minutes south, down by the Ohio River.
I didn’t know that about Nicky….I knew his father and uncle from the pool hall in Owensboro….when Nick and I met, we got along just fine because of that.

Shadiest Pool Hall

Justin Collett and TAR I believe went down in flames, he had good idea, but got little support to keep his dream alive. He gets credit for trying..

My ideas are just my ideas, and opinions.

Have made many observation over the years, most of the time I was correct, or close to being correct.

AZB is nothing like it was 10, or 15 years ago, it is not as good. JMHO
Just the fact that you express yourself much more lucidly has made AZ better.

3 things you would change about pool

1. Penalize slow play to a point where it becomes the norm in all contexts of play to use a shot clock or faster pace.
2. 4" pockets - standardized measurements, uniformed across table manufacturers (4.25 or 4.5 can be training aids, or used to work through as levels)
3. All ball fouls, all the time, in every context. Penalize push shots to a point where it is the norm to call that BS in all contexts of play.
4. 5. 6. 7... 100. Slow players burnt alive as punishment for wasting my life.
