The elbow on the table is part of getting the chin rubbing on the cue, which many of them do. Where a lot of snooker players really get bent is on rail shots. I was just in ATL and Mark Gregory was at the pool hall putting together qty 2 GC7's and training 2 mechanics on it. I hung around with them for a few hours. He took a saw to the two pieces of wood in the ballbox to fix the balls getting stuck.

I won't say what he said due to privacy, but I will say he had nothing to do with the ballbox design or the vinyl rail material choice.

It was contested in a series of 5 or 6 World Cups those years. The last one to defend the 3C title in one-week events was Raymond Ceulemans (1979 and 1980).
