WNT, WPA and 2026

I know lots of people want to pile on Matchroom. Its made plenty of errors while the Predator Billiard Series has greatly improved.

Yet Predator alone can't provide enough money for pool pros. Predator only has eight events all year, and not all have big payouts like the ones in Vegas and St. Louis.

If Matchroom killed the WNT and got out of the pool business, you'd figure it would sell the rights to the US Open, WPC and Mosconi. Predator would be the likely acquirer.

I don't expect that to happen, but the crux of the matter is the same. There just doesn't seem to be enough money in pool.

Pool players want better. I get it. Predator has certainly upped its game. But aside from flashy prizes for tournament winners, Predator payouts for the rest of the field are as skimpy as the WNT tournaments.

Only a few players are really making any serious money via tournaments (outside of China.) If we look at the past year, the list would include just Biado, Yapp, Gorst, Filler, SVB, FSR and Neuhausen.

Another dozen or so appear to rake in $100,000 or so before expenses if WNT and PBS events are combined.

i'm surprised they even have 8 pro men's events. is that counting the eurotour or something?

Another stupid thread from me: golf is harder than pool

You can teach someone the basics of pool and get them to hit some passable shots in a couple hours. Good luck doing that on the golf course. This shouldn’t even be a debate.

The only moving part in a decent pool stroke is the forearm.
When I was 10 and my dad took me to a golf course it was the same deal. I could hit the the ball down the course just fine with some basic instruction.

I could hit a golf ball pretty well the very first time I tried. But I wasn't any better the last time I tried when I said screw this game I'm going inside to play pool.

Another Cueball Training Device/Product!!

If anyone doesn't know how an aiming tunnel works, you set it up either in front of a pocket or close to a rail and you shoot through it. If the ball even slightly grazes the device, your shot doesn't count, even if you still pocket the ball. It's instant feedback.
The first person I saw that brought aiming tunnels to demonstrate was Mark Wilson, former team USA Mosconi Cup captain.

He flat out trashed it. How do you not understand that?
Someone should start a post on internet-forum toxicity. AZBilliards would be included in that discussion. AZBilliards is toxic but also contains valuable information. As a mentor said once of a researcher who was a klutz, "even with with Gonzo, there are gems in his garbage articles". There are gems here, too.

GC3 price ?

I can't say for sure but I just finished going through the process of locating one and getting here and set up. In my case I ended up buying a GC4 but I was really just looking for any Gold Crown. It seemed that most that I found were on Facebook which was an issue for me because I don't have Facebook. The prices for what appeared to be pretty decent tables ranged from $2500-$4500. I noticed several that looked good on Ebay but most were in the NE part of the country and I am in Oklahoma.

I spoke with the folks at Billiard Restoration Service and they quoted me $8K for a completely restored table they would find. I told him I would shop a bit and if I could not get one here under $5k then I would probably buy from him. I paid $4250 for mine with new rubber and felt. Got to pick pocket size and delivered about 2 hours from where they were located.

Bausch goes undefeated, downs Sossei to win his third Joss NE 9-Ball Tour title

Two guys from Connecticut with pool cues. Alex Bausch and Jeremy Sossei have been competing on the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour for a long time now; Sossei has the ‘edge’ on that longevity statistic with wins on the tour (38 of them) dating back to 2007. Bausch cashed in his first (known) appearance on the tour in 2021, finishing 4th at the 33rd Annual Ocean State 9-Ball Championships. He’d win his first Joss NE 9-Ball Tour stop a year later, downing Ron Casanzio in the final. He’d win another one the following year (’23) and this past weekend (April 18-19), […]

Another Cueball Training Device/Product!!

I never once said this gadget is better than taking a lesson from someone. My point is to say that I don't know why anyone would trash talk something that can help with aiming when he has never used it. That's it. I totally agree that a lesson is the best thing to do. But not everyone is going to spend money on a lesson and may look into something different to help with aiming.
