2026 World Snooker Championship: April 18 - May 04

Well I just caught the tail end of the Murphy Zhao first session and both went limp at the end. NOT impressive and certainly doesn't inspire confidence in either making it all the way.
Higgins stamina could be the decider but after taking out Ronnie, his mind could be right to go All The Way. Then there's Vafaei taking out Judd.....his confidence should be overflowing. While the players navigate the tournament, the drama is certainly entertaining.
I saw the same thing with Murphy and Zhao. The point is, in my opinion, that the snooker WC is such a devastatingly long event that even the greatest champions at their best form will have an off session or two. So when the top ones start missing and look shaky, it can be just a glitch and a sign of the tournament taking its physical and psychological toll on you at that moment. But the best ones know how to recuperate overnight and come out guns blazing the next session. And that could mean that a 8-8 overnight is a 13-8 or 13-9 final score the next day.

The main event lasts for 17 days. The qualifiers 10 days and then 2 days in between. For any sports event, the snooker WC must be one of the most hardest of them all.

Doug Klisch is my grandpa. Love to see this! My dad handed down his cue to me, which was stolen out of my car in 2015.. I got back into APA last year and wouldn't ya know it.. I came across a guy with his cue. I had to buy it off him, but I got it.. I miss seeing all the pictures up at Hardtimes.

In the 3rd photo you can see Doug Klisch sleeping. Dave would do this often to people while running rack after rack.

In the 4th photo it is Dave sitting with Jay Swanson (I may be wrong) and the player on the right is Rudy Jurez.

In the last photo it is Paul Brienza with his back to the camera, Al "the Plumber" Wichenbaugh is sitting next to Ted Ito and "Kimmer".

Seeing the contact point on the object ball.

Hello, for those of you who use contact point aiming systems, where you first find the contact point on the object ball
by drawing a line from the pocket through the object ball, here is my question.
Let's say you have a long shot , and the object ball is a solid color. You step away from the object ball, after finding the contact point, and head
back to the cue ball which is say - 4 diamonds away. How do you keep track of that contact point on the object ball with your eyes? Thank you.

I've never used contact point aiming systems but keeping track of the contact point can be done by not taking your eyes off of it while walking back to the CB, getting down and shooting. Although I've done it that way I am able to recognize the contact point after looking away from it when I go back and get down on the shot. It seems to be some sort of mental/visual persistence that developed after months of shooting 8 hrs a day when I was first learning. I do stare at the contact point when standing on the cut line some times but don't pay any attention to any markings on the OB, and I often don't go to the cut line - I just walk over to the CB, get down on the shot and look at the OB, see the contact point and cut it in. It is kinda automatic. I've been able to teach it to a couple students, telling them they just need to learn to visualize it.
