💯What kinds of wood in these hundred-year old cue sticks? 💯

I have Briggs one-piece cue sticks made sometime between 64 and 125 years ago. This was the period in which the O.L. Briggs & Son company was in business in Boston.

Can you tell me what kind of wood was used from looking at photos?

The wood at the butt is darker in the 18 and 19-ounce cues than that in the 16 and 17-ounce cues. See photos

Just common woods for that time. Nothing special.
Generally used whatever they could buy a truck load for cheap back then.

2026 World Snooker Championship: April 18 - May 04

I think whats interesting this year, is that it is not a century festival. A lot of grinding and fighting and a lot of that much more important 60 to 70 breaks.
And because of that my money is on Wu Yize. His win against Selby, who in my opinion is the toughest matchplayer on the tour, was very impressive. And while he had two or three high breaks against Vafei he is up 6:2 against Allen, again making those 70s at the right moment.

Kamui

Depends on who you ask.
Tips are super subjective, and people have a habit of believing some weird stuff about them.
Manufacturers make some pretty interesting claims about them as well.
They're both multiple layers of pigskin.
Kamui says the Athlete tips use layers of different hardness, with soft material near the contact area and harder material lower in the tip.
Sounds about right. I've been out of the loop for a minute and wasn't sure. I've always been a Kamui black fan so I'll stick with those. Thanks guys.
