107 Breaks & 6 Chances

I was back down at the table tonight. After I checked into the Indiana Traffic Net - I am a ham radio operator too - and the Net had closed I decided to once again break some racks of 9-Ball.

Broke three times. Got out twice. The other time would have been a tough out and I missed position on a tough position shot.

But I was quite pleased with getting out twice the first three racks so I just laid the cue down and shut the light off.

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

I played with a 14mm for decades.

I still prefer fatter shafts than most people.

I can put as much spin on the cue ball with a fat shaft as I can with a thinner one.

Here is a 60" Gulyassy White Ebony Merry Widow if he wants to see one. I even have a 14mm Earl shaft with a black ferrule that Gulyassy made me for this cue (not pictured)

Gulyassy had a cue with this wood on display at the Super Billiard Expo one year and was asking something like $7k for it. I just had to shake my head. He did a tip for me and charged $20 for a tip pad.

I do hope you're happy with the cue and have good dealings with him.

New stick

Very nice. The old Triangles were/are hard to beat.

Crazy story. I use a guy in the poolroom to do my tips. Wonderful guy, a little crazy, very crazy. Love the guy. Generous to a fault. He's in his late 60's and works for a major paint brand advising commercial builders on site on paints and textures.
So I give him the kielwood and ask him to put a hard pressed Triangle on it.
Apparently he soaks Triangles in milk before he presses them like a milk dud.
Well his daughter had a child about a month ago and he told me that he used mother's milk on the Triangle before pressing it. I kid you not.
Didn't know what to say.
Loving the shaft and tip.
Only in the pool world.

First-Rate transaction with Jack Boy

We facetimed for almost an hour. Cue was shown, questions answered, agreement made. I PP Jack Boy the funds using Goods & Services,
and covered the fees. The cue was shipped on Monday, FedEx Next Day, as promised, and arrived on Wednesday. I was provided with
photos and videos of the cue, a photo of the original receipt from Recolletion Cues via email. Jack Boy also texted me a photo of the
package with FedEx shipping label and provided constant updates.

Once I unboxed the package, I was a bit dumbfounded. Inside was a brand new maroon, 2 x 2 vinyl, Games & Sports hard case wrapped
in plastic with.....get this....with 6 packets of HotHands attached to keep the case warm. lol The butt and each shaft had poly wraps to ensure
scratch-free transport. Upon inspection, the entire cue was immaculate and included joint proctectors for butt and shafts.

Guys, my interaction with Jack Boy was absolutely flawless and stress-free. He kept me posted via email and text the entire time. Jack Boy
is as solid and straight-up as they come, and I would not hesitate to deal with him again.

From "aim by feel" to "aim at a point"

There are only a few well-defined "points" with fractional aiming - the major fractions on the OB (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, etc.). These are used as "reference alignments" from which to estimate the vast majority of actual shot alignments that fall somewhere between them.

That is what I was referring to, without listing them. Plus, once I start thinking about cuts outside of the 1/2-ball, then I also start questioning whether the contact/impact point is still an aim point--but the aim/shot line is parallel to the centerline of the cue ball, which then leads to the "equal distance"/"overlap" aiming systems....even typing this reply out has my head running!
