American players who have won the US Open 9 ball Championship, in recent years?

Okay, John Schmidt, Gabe Owen, and Double J, so other then SVB, it has been 20 years since any other American has won the event. Not counting Fedor, or Jayson Shaw, because I do not really see either of them as American.

There was a 2nd question to my post though.

Thanks.

Well, Shane winning 5 of them in that period makes it harder for another American to win one at the same time. How many Americans did he beat on the way to the title?

Also been some notable US runner ups. Appleton beat Shawn Putnam to win one. And Fedor beat Shane in 2024. And yes I count Fedor.

US Winning 6 in that time is pretty impressive, given that pool is now a global sport.

For this year Shane and Fedor still the best chance for the US. Bergman possibly could do it if he puts the time in. Sky seems focused on his young family so I’m not sure he is ready.

And I don’t think the kids are ready. But then I would have said Felix Vogel is years away from beating a strong field and he just won a big event, so who knows. Indeed some of the past Open winners were a surprise when they won.

American players who have won the US Open 9 ball Championship, in recent years?

Please forgive me, I have never really followed Pro pool.

I can only think of a few US Players who have won the US Open in recent years though.

Not counting Fedor Gorst, or SVB, and not counting any other players who are not from the US, like the Euro players for example (who might now live in the US, but were not born and raised here), who all has won the US Open 9 ball, since the year 2000, for example?

Oh, I just remembered. I think Earl Strickland won it in the early 2000's(?), and I recall Corey Deuel winning it sometime back in the mid 2000's.

And, sorry, I just felt like asking the people on here, instead of Google AI, lol.

Also, do you foresee any US Players winning the US Open, in the near future, other then Fedor, and Shane, to name a few examples?

I think it would be so cool if Bergman or Skyler Woodward would win the US Open one of these years. Any other players that you know of, that you think might have a fair chance?

I would really love to see Justin Bergman win a Major championship someday.

Thanks for any thoughts about this.
If I am not mistaken Allison Fisher has won a US Open 9-ball Championship multiple times.

$1.5M first place prize for Chinese tournament next week

I gave a shot to a few matches. Borderline un-watchable imo. Barely better than Snoozeball, errrrrrrrrrrr, Heyball.

To each his own.

Maybe it was easier for me because I was pulling hard for Wu, but the Wu-Chu match was amazing. The level of play was incredible. Not just the outs but some of the safety and kicking game was as good as any I’ve seen in any “American” game.

That said, it would be much better if they got someone to do some English commentary. They have a knowledgeable South African commentator who does some of the big Heyball events.

I share your aversion to searching in the “traditional” sense. I much prefer conversation as well. Some folks on here act like because there’s a post already about a topic you can’t start a fresh conversation about it. And yeah sometimes they’ve got a point.

Without looking it up I’d guess it’s been awhile aside from Shane. Maybe Corey was the last real American? Maybe even Jeremy Jones? Idk.

Hopefully some newcomers will emerge that are legitimate threats to that type of event but it’s going to a be big mountain imo. Bergman surely has the talent but not sure he has the drive to compete on a long enough timeline(has to start way before the event).

Don’t think Sky is quite at that level to win that many matches at the world class level. But sure he could get hot. I almost think Billy has a better chance even. That’s not me saying Billy is better but I do think he has a higher top end speed.

Thanks for the nice reply. Yeah, I really did not think I had to look it up. I just figured it has been ages since an American (other then SVB) won the US Open, and it turns out, I was right. John Schmidt was the last one, in 2006. We all know SVB Dominated, for a long time, so that is why I say other then SVB.

Anyways, yeah, I mainly was curious to hear thoughts about my 2nd question.

PT109 Accu-Stats video and raffle

I think a direct contribution would be used.

I don't want any of the prizes, even to sell, and would rather leave those to folks that would appreciate them.

Alex now has a direct contribution page.

Thanks to you and anyone else who donates or buys tickets. Alex, PT and all of PT’s friends really appreciate it.
