Discussion: Focusing on the cue ball compared to other sports

pool isnt like other sports it is more like shooting a rifle. you get down on it and line up the back sight with the front one. just as you do in pool. it doesnt matter much which one you are looking at as long as they are lined up and you pull smoothly.

quick shooting most will just put the front sight on the target and pull.

similar to what many pool players do. they get down on the shot and see the spot they want to hit and then look at that.

others get down on the shot and see both or line up both and keep their eyes on the spot to hit on the cue ball. works fine.

all depends on the straight stroke if you have that then you can turn your head and make almost all shots looking at your arm pit. which is proven by those gamblers that play 5 or 10 stroke no look. that was one of my games years back.

some shots where i need to hit an exact spot on the cue ball i look at that throughout the stroke. most i keep both in sight if i can and follow it up to the object ball last.

We acquired a Rare Brunswick “Cat’s Paw” table. Has anyone seen another one?

The person to talk to is Derrick at Billiard Restoration. He knows a ton about these things. BTW, i the convo's i've had with him he makes it pretty clear that what these old tables ACTUALLY sell for is often miles apart from asking price. Vintage tables can often be a tough deal.
Thanks for the tip!

Savannah “The RoadRunner” Easton using a wood shaft?

How so?

My Z3 has less deflection than most CF on the market, so how would that help me if I made the switch?

Besides durability and longevity, what can a CF shaft do to help someone "jump to a whole new level"?

The only thing I can think of is increased transfer of energy, which doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things if you already know how to control the cue ball and are good at speed control.
It has nothing to do with deflection. a CF can have more deflection and you will be better with time. Its more got to do with consistency plus helping you achievement the perfect timing with every single shot, in pool it's all about timing.

Buddy Hall made $85,000 in 1982

Buddy Hall was the best pool player of all time. There was one year when He won like 15 major tournaments in a row. And when it came to gambling He beat everyone that tried him 10
Ahead for 20K including Efren Reyes . I’ve seen them all play but when I saw him in person in his prime. It was just a different experience. He was a runout machine. RIP Rifleman 🙏🏼
Thank you for being a member for almost a year and bringing that earth shattering email from a 2 year old thread. No one on this forum has heard of this Buddy Hill.

The long decline of ESPN

Now all Pro Pool Player need do is start looking out for selves, Streamer are making Money off their Effort.

Pro Player need to say No Streaming unless I get paid. As Streamer are not contributing to Prize Money say act DCC.

Has Accustoms ever paid money to Pool Player they sell matches of playing.
this old school mentality.
Hand shakes hand
No one can afford paying player for streaming
But they do get coverage, the do get recognition and they can use it as leverage for self branding.
If no one knows who is Fedor Gorst, then no one will buy Fedor's chalk / case / cloths, shafts etc. Same for Alex Pagulayan for example and others.
Players like Yapp are really missing a lot of money just laying on the floor by not branding them selves properly.
A lot of players setup their own streams and start their own YouTube channels and it's all for free as there is a bigger picture.
We used to pay good money for Pool lessons videos, now everything is for free, as yet again, there isa bigger picture.

Jayson Shaw’s World Record high runs on You tube for free

How 'bout none of the dumb gimicky high run nonsense and just stage an actual world class straight pool event. No International this year so there is another hole there.
Well yeah but my interest lies in the evolution of quality. There will always be competition but left to it's own vices, it will always remain __ only good enough to win.
