New Room in San Francisco's Mission district called 'The Hall'

I just got home from the third and final night of the SVB challenge matches. He had the break dialed in, and he was winning all the lags, so.... While I was watching, I think one guy got to 3 in the race to 4.

It's a very nice room, but is set up more for a club vibe than an old-style pool hall. There was booth seating on a balcony that looked down on the challenge table.

I hope they figure out how to do coffee.

Sounds like a lot of fun - what was the format? Lag, rack your own, winner break? Waiting list? Heck, I'd gladly pay $300 for a "lesson" from SVB, lol.

New Room in San Francisco's Mission district called 'The Hall'

I used to like him. But at the Derby City Classic last year that changed.

My friend was supposed to play him on one of the tables upstairs. He had a bad COPD attack and had to sit down and rest for 25+ minutes during the long walk from the hotel to the match.

I ran ahead and told Shane the situation and that he would be there before the match was to begin and others there overheard me. I walked back and carried my friend's cue case and we made it to the match table 5-10 minutes before the match was to start and everyone that was there had left?

Shane had the table switched to one of the downstairs tables. So, we had to run around and find what was up? IMHO a shark move and I let his fan club know that was a bull$hit move seemingly on purpose so he ain't no GOAT in my book.

Edit: Efren on the other hand has been a class act whenever I've noticed his interactions at the DCC.

Are you sure he had it switched? Did you ask him or whomever had it switched why it was done? Maybe it was switched because there was concern the guy might be late or might be more easily accommodated there for reasons you don't know. All a bunch of drama because a table got moved? "Seemingly on purpose" sounds like you don't have any real notion of why it was moved, but want to stir up some drama. "We" had to run around? You had the guy with COPD running around doing what? He couldn't just sit quietly while you figured it out? Sounds like it was more about you wanting to insert yourself into a situation and spout off at his "fan club", at least based on what little is posted almost a year after the fact. The match wasn't cancelled, a different table was used, the guy who should care (not you) was able to take an escalator to another table. Big deal.

Who are the Best Female Bankers?

She was an anomaly in a lot of ways. I mean on one hand given her looks she was the face of female pool for quite a few years. But she was also in real life a player known to get into the box and gamble away from the camera, she woofed pretty fluently too in those moments. I watched her torture a guy one night for fairly high stakes and 💩 talked the entire time with a smile on her face. Her one time husband George Breedlove was no stranger to action and she was once a member here at AZB and I believe with the user name Williebetmore.

for those that haven't seen that match against matlock i recommend it highly. that amount of talent, beauty and charisma is extremely rare. a very special lady. i wish her well.

What's your favorite pool memory from 2025?

Not to offend you but I only took issue with older seasoned gambling players 'chiding' younger non gamblers. I remember the old days when gamblers jumped up to get kids who walked in the door to gamble. They run them off. If I owned the pool hall I would have a talk with the hustlers about hurting my business. That is why a lot of pool halls close...no younger customers.

By the way, these older hustlers always complain that nobody gambles anymore but when a real player come in...they leave the building. I have seen this over and over.

Just my view and I respect yours.
First and foremost I meant you no disrespect. Your post here adds more context than your initial one, and I have in my time also seen these things you express in your latest post.

Just as you added more context, perhaps I should have added more to my initial post regarding the situation I spoke of. My group, the “older gamblers”, while we play all games, the main focus of our gambling sessions is one pocket. The younger players I spoke of, aren’t kids, more 20-30 something’s, just younger than us. They play well, just rotation games though.

The interaction actually started with them talking 💩 when they would walk by, just loudly enough for us to hear, about “old farts that play 1 pocket because we can’t see, or play we’ll enough to play 9 or 10 ball anymore”. The chide I referred to in the match that unfolded was one of us replying “well if you want to actually bet something, we can play some even 9 or 10 ball right now”. That’s how the match came about, they put up the best of their little group, pooled their money to post the stake, and got schooled.

So as I’ve now provided more context you can see that it wasn’t quite what you thought it was. We gamble because it’s always been our way from those of our speed and our era. We can’t just quite understand them, they play well, more than well enough to get into action, but they rarely do, or as I initially stated, only for peanuts and amongst each other. It’s lost on us, it just appears that as time has passed, the younger generation is just different than ours.

I think that's the only female bank player i ever watched on video. Never seen gals play banks/1p in person.

World Darts Championship.....................

If mosconi was more competitive I could see it. I haven't watched darts really. Close matches and a loud drunk crowd ( is that the attraction to a non-player?)
Apparently to both the non players and the players. Given this you’d think that pool would would be doing better, especially here in America where the better majority of those that “play the game nowadays” , and I use that term loosely, seem to be cut from the same cloth.

You know, those that call themselves “pool players” that are really nothing more than hobby players that go to the bar from 1 to 3 nights a week to play leagues on bar boxes while they drink and loudly socialize, which is the main purpose of their presence there, and the premise given for this loud, drunken socializing is to supposedly be there to “play pool”.

Perhaps the attempts by MR to do something with this game are all wrong. Maybe they ought to go to Anytown USA to bars on league nights and record overweight people dressed in garish, petroleum based league shirts pound brews down their gullets and pound balls into rails on bar boxes with 14 innings to a single game. 🤔
