These showed up at my door yesterday....played a rack with each and they felt right immediately. I'm digging the dark blue of the FK and the techy but understated feel of the Mohave. Performance is quite impressive, hits are solid across the stroke spectrum. None of the clanky like my Predator CF. They feel a touch light in the ass end compared to my other pieces but I'm liking it. I rarely need a glove for play and this shaft felt real nice. I mean, 2 cues that play about as well as you could ask, at any price, for under 750 shipped? Hell yeah.
All my tips are Sierings. These Avids came with the stock Everest tip and will be replaced with Sierings when they wear.
I owned a Viking player in the past, it was the Defender with a Vikore shaft. Loved the way it looked and hated the way it played. The shaft felt like a mop handle, the hit was amateur hour, laughably bad for me personally. My $40 one-piece Dufferin plays way better. Paid almost $1000 or so for it, blech....I've played with a Viking Crush for the last 10 years or so and it's mid (Siering diamond tip). Nothing against Viking, perfectly good American company, just my personal experience.
Cuetec is a sure bet for performance and value. Super important for me after having spent good money on bad equipment. If American made at value is important to you (it is to me), you might look at Pechauer's JP series cues. Mine is my baby to the point it'll often get in my bag over my Predator Sport and I paid $350 for it.
