Shoot a Million Balls? Give me a break.

Selling the shot was a big part of things. Acting as surprised as anyone then proclaiming somewhat pompously "I did that on purpose" when a tough shot falls. One trick is learning how to make your voice ring false so everyone hearing thinks you are full of crap! I used to sell "misses" by blurting out something angry and waving a stick angrily usually over my head. I made enough noise about a lost game everyone around knew it, when I won I was quieter than a popcorn fart. All just part of the schtick in the day.

As for shooting center pocket, I had five primary lanes I aimed at. Strong players might have seven or more. I have known more players that said they never aimed center pocket than those that claimed they always aimed center pocket. Shooting a pistol the class of the field was still running clean after three relays, so was I. Difference was he was shooting very tight groups, I was all over the ten point area. A newcomer laughing said, "Look at his groups then look at yours!" Next stage you could cover my groups with the palm of a small hand. I passed by the laugher, "Ten points is ten points." The same thing applies to pool. When they start giving center pocket a higher value than the rest of the pocket then I'll start aiming center pocket.

Fallacy: "When they start giving center pocket a higher value than the rest of the pocket then I'll start aiming center pocket." You mean that whenever you make the ball it doesn't matter if you hit center pocket. How much money have you ever taken down by not aiming center pocket and missing the shot? This is very similar to that ancient Greek argument about with every step, if you get half way to your destination, you will never get to your destination. But we know this is not reality. You do get to your destination because you in fact cover a given distance in a given time. This is called your rate or speed. Nice try.

Practicing via Feel Only

that's +/- the traditional ratio used in France for an equivalence beetween small (9 feet) & big tables (10feet) averages. in some tournaments you can play some matches on small and other on big tables. 0.60 on a 9 feet means around 0.450 on big tables...
more kisses on small tables (2m80) , that's right. but less opposite hand positions, more open positions, and the smaller the table the easier to score it is, whatever the carom game you're playing. See straight rail : much, much easier on small tables than on big tables. same goes for balkline, 1 cushion, 3 cushions, 5 pins ....
Thank you for elaborating.

Don't wish to argue here, but I've known a few players the purists would call bums for using the whole pocket and cheating them regularly in order to leave with the cash. Thot never occurred to them not to.
My standards must have fallen when I wasn't playing 14:1 regularly and hit the road, If I had any to begin with??😉
The standard I held myself to was to win. Period. Use the whole green, pitch, court, field, board, any and all of it.
Cole was talking about a slouch. Not a hustler. Don't forget, it takes one to know one and Cole was unquestionably one hell of a hustler.

I met a guy at Hard Times, Bellflower. He would come in regularly there for a while. He told me that Cole wouldn't come into a town to hustle up a game. He came into town to hustle the whole town!

Best display of cueing you've ever seen

When Orcollo is in stroke he has one of the highest gears I've ever seen, just a pleasure to watch. SJM, this is certainly a great example of superb cueing on Shane's part.
I ref'd that match and it was one of the most amazing tournament matches I ever saw. Both guys played brilliantly! Dennis took this loss hard. They repeated it in the finals of the Open the next year too. Not quite the same level of excellence but still damn good.
