Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

my old eyes could not see the first one move the 9 ball. and the second one not so sure of either. he could have thrown the ball with english and followed with the cue ball. its too hard to call fouls just on the way a ball reacts unless its more drastic.

for a ref to call a foul he needs to be damn well sure.

and i am in the camp of the opponent needs to direct the ref to watch the shot if he thinks it isn't going to be good.

New Here? - Introduce Yourself

Hi!!!
Obviously I’m a newbie to this site. Was lurking for awhile and really enjoyed the stories of the old players. I hail from a very small Kansas town but have lived in Wichita for almost 11 years. My husband Jim has been my mentor, my coach, my opponent lol. We play mostly 9 ball. Winner breaks, push out allowed and two shot foul, old school play. Jim is one of the OG’s honestly playing in the late 60’s, the 70’s and into the 80’s. He tells me all the old stories: Burkes Steakhouse, Greg Steven’s, Greg Matlock. He played Jr when junior was just a kid…he has lots of fond memories. He doesn’t shoot much now, mostly coaching me and setting up practice shots for me. We both play with Shurtz cues, made by Bob Owen. They are very nice cues!! I’m thinking of joining a league but wonder if I should just continue working with Jimmy and then maybe start getting into some local tournaments. I dunno. I love the mental discipline of the sport and of course the skill. It’s challenging and it’s fun.

bill's stuff is collectable and playable. this one is very basic so few collectors that pay top dollar will be interested.

you need to find comparable sales and listings to get a rough idea then decide if the offers if any are okay with you or you would rather sit on it.

my guess for what it is worth is 1500 to 2000. i am not interested in buying it for any price but good luck.
sold new in the range of 250 to 300 depending on who your were, if bought from him. much less or free if a top player friend.

dont know what third party sellers charged.

John Schmidt runs 820

As to Willie, well, we will never know for sure but there was referee and Willie was used to playing all fouls world championships, in a coat and tie no less -- so the best we can do is give him the benefit of the doubt.

Willie had over thirty-five witnesses who put their signatures to an affidavit claiming to have seen every moment of the run including the official and the attorney putting the affidavit together. Many more viewpoints than any video. There were certainly more witnesses that didn't claim to see every moment. Some overlap so there were probably more witnesses to every moment, just not the same witness start to finish. Willie's run would stand up in a court of law, as an exhibition and as a run of the alleged number of balls in a single run.

These other "runs" are impressive but I don't think they would stand up in a court of law as an exhibition or a run of the number of balls claimed under the rules of straight pool. If anyone cared enough to defend Willie's record they probably could, as it remaining the straight pool high run in an exhibition.

Unknown Cue

I seen your post this morning and since no one has chimed in, I will give you my thoughts, but it may come across a bit crass. I do not know how you could make a trade on something you are not sure of, not knowing if you made a good trade. If you come on here and appear to be asking for help to identify it, you should take more time out of your day to provide pictures showing other parts of the cue that may help identify it. You only have pictures showing above the wrap. What about the butt sleeve, under the bumper, and tip of joint pin. With these added pictures, someone on here may be able to help. With your current pictures, probably not. From your pictures, it does look like a nice cue though.

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I made a threat about his first one here, https://forums.azbilliards.com/thre...radona-making-a-goal-with-his-hands-d.579054/

But now he won again with a foul in the final rack.

I don't know whats up with Yapp and winning the final rack on a foul, however this one isn't his fault - he knew its a foul, he waited for the ref to call it, the ref was just so bad that she didn't know how to distinguish a foul/good shot in pocket billiards when balls are close, just like that other referee dude I forgot his name where he squints too hard to try & see which ball is hit first, thats not how to determine a foul in pool...EVER

The way to tell if its a foul or not is by the cueball reaction, very very very simple. You don't need to squint, you dont need to see both balls and eye-ball it to see which was hit first. It is very easy if you have pool knowledge, just look at the cueball and from a mile away you can see if its a foul or not (That goes for any two closely balls, or also a ball & rail very closely together) check the cueball reaction and you would know.

In a million years if he hit the 8ball first the cueball would NEVER follow the 8ball in its direction, literally you can see the whity going after the 8ball which indicates he hit the pueple first, if you hit the 8ball first then the purple 2nd then the cueball would react differently either going in between both balls (direction wise) or following the purple in its direction.

No need to zoom in, no need to squint, and for viewers with no knowledge about pool please dont try to zoom in, thats not how you determine this.

(I don't know if i stamped it correctly, its the last shot of the match).

P.S. I love Yapp please don't get me wrong. Grats to him for winning the tournament, very well deserved, this time it's the ref fault. I know i mentioned this but look at his face when the 8ball was going to the pocket, he was waiting for the foul call he stared at the ref....also FSR knew its a fault but he's such a gentelmen and followed by what the ref called & went on with it as the crowd kept cheering, he didn't want to ruin the moment for Yapp, FSR is such a nice guy.

I don’t get the hate. She obviously loves the game, and is using whatever she has to make her mark. The male pool audience tends to pay particular attention to female players that they consider attractive. Ewa and Janette took full advantage of this (while playing championship level pool).

I remember a decade or so ago there were a group of women from the NY area that marketed themselves. Jennifer Barretta, Borana Andoni and Emily (maybe others?). None of them were championship level players (9mm the closest) but they still promote the game.
That was the Kiss of Death pool team. I think Jen played with them early on.

New Dynaspeheres Set

This is something I don’t understand. I watch players, and I use the word “players” loosely, that can’t make 3 balls in a row, buy every damn CF shaft offering at $300-$500 a pop, $25 chalk, a $700 jump cue that you MIGHT need once every blue moon, and every other overpriced accessory available. Then the same people are the ones looking for bargain basement priced ball sets, the one area where buying the best is a good idea. One of life’s mysteries 🤷🏻‍♂️
That money must be reserved for their new cue purchase. Obviously, they are not there to collect balls.
