The quickest path to a straight, repeatable stroke, and the best metric used to evaluate it.

another good check is to put the cb on the spot, shoot at center diamond and have cb come straight back to your tip. if your not straight you'll see it quick.
Again, that doesn't tell you that your stroke is straight, it just tells you that whatever swoop is in your stroke, you happen to hit the ball in the center and in the right direction. He needs to video record his shots from the point of view of the target, if he really wants to know if his stroke is straight.

Lots of pretty good players have some swoop/swerve in their stroke, including Irving Crane and Nick Varner. Consistency is the key.

Lowest deflection kielwood

Super late to the discussion, but Ive tried schmelke kiel, Hsu 1.0, lucasi cf infuzed kiel.
The lucasi seemed to have the least deflection, but was lacking feel. It has more feel than cf shafts minus the fortis, but vs'ing the other kiels I tried & Ld maple I got (wx900, z3) its feedback is muted. Despite that ,its a really good stiff playing shaft once you get accustomed to it.
I actually prefer it over the z3 because its less whippy, thats saying alot , because I was team z2&z3 for over a decade.
I have the opportunity to compare both the Lucasi Fuze and Fortis which I now have both. to be honest I like both. the feel for both shafts are different but for some reason I like the feel for both shafts. although the Fuze looks more appealing. the hit are pretty much head to head and can't really say which is better. I did however delegated the KW now as my main shaft for playing and the Fortis as a second cue for certain shots. I use the Fortis for Power Draws and the Lucasi for Finesse draws.

650 Fargo Quits Six Figure Job to Pursue Pro Pool Dream...or YouTube Fame?

Is it possible to reach the top 75 globally in anything as an adult, even if you start your journey as a strong amateur? I say no unless it's something extremely niche.

Reaching 800 would put him one point ahead of John Morra. He'd be 5 points behind Chris Melling and Jeff De Luna. Guys who each have decades of pro tournament experience and significant titles. That just seems absurd on the face of it.
It is absurd. He isn't going to be an 800. But, if chasing something gets some clicks and let's the rest of us see what he can do, maybe we'll learn something.

Frankly, I'll be impressed if he cracks 700.

In fact, I'd set the over/under wagering at 710.5 in the next two years, and I would take the under.

Homemade Tip Replacement Lathe

I purchased parts to make a homemade tip changing lathe. There are a couple other threads similar to this but their picture links are broken.

I already made a speed controller out of spare parts that I had, which generates 270 oz-in (1.4 ft-lbs) of torque from 100 to 1000 RPM... I think this is enough for tip shaping work...

I am planning on directly coupling the motor to a chuck. I'll use cloth or electrical tape on the joint end of the shaft. The tip end of the shaft will fit though a pillow bearing with collets. My amazon order is under $101 including shipping.

The bearings have set screws in them which I hope will allow me to adjust them using a dial caliper (which I don't own yet). I just plan on using a block of wood with a razor blade screwed into the top as a tool, or maybe just a block of sand paper.

$1.5M first place prize for Chinese tournament next week

Probably not much. The prior events were very top heavy in the payout. Last 64 probably pays less than $5K.

But I think international players like Mickey probably get free entry, hotel, transportation etc, so whatever he makes is probably profit.

The flyer in the first post shows the payout amounts. 33rd-64th places all got paid ¥20k, approximately $2950. Coincidentally the same as the US Open, where 33rd-64th paid $3k.
