Gorst dishes on US Open, lopsided prize funds, long race with Filler

You make a good point. I do think $6 million sounds light. Very light, in fact. So I dug a little further.

I imagine Predator makes most of its money from cues, though it is of course branching out. Let's say it only got revenue from cues. Predator would have to sell 6,000 cues worldwide, at a cost of $1,000 each, to get to $6 million in revenue.

I've got to figure Predator sells at least 25,000 cues a year in the US alone. Maybe 50,000 or more worldwide. That would put revenue at $50 million a year before the sale of accessories.

Throw in cases, chalk, clothes etc. Maybe that's another $15 million to $25 million.

Looked at it this way. perhaps $60 million to $75 million a year is a conservative estimate. I'd guess $100 million in annual revenue would be toward the higher end.
It would be a good if someone can ask Karim about his revenue stream on a Podcast. Someone did ask him about the number of employees and he was willing to answer, but he might be more reluctant on revenues - doesn't hurt to ask though.

Karim said that he would like to see prize money in the PBS increase to about $8 million in couple years so you can rest assured that the Predator company is doing well since it is a major sponsor of the PBS.

Predator world tour - St. Louis going on now.

St Louis is a sports town and supports a healthy number of pool leagues and bar table tournaments.

But the PR I've seen (or actually haven't seen for this event) has been on the poor side, as previously mentioned. I don't believe there has even been anything in the local paper which will print just about anything sports related. No TV on the local channels; no posters in the rooms and bars; and other than a couple of players hitting a couple of the local rooms to practice, no meet and greet and play the champion and win... sumthin.

Good PR can't just be the easy stuff, ie social media. With just a little footwork they could have gotten a lot of the locals to go. Like everywhere else, they especially like "free" here.

Shoes

Anybody have special shoes you wear when you play?

My Diamond Professional is in my upstairs garage apartment and it's got that vinyl plank flooring. If I have to lean a little bit to reach a shot my feet will, at times, slip a little.

Just wondering if anyone uses special shoes for various floors wherever they play?

One week to Super Billiards Expo. Who is playing?

Bowling alley in Fulton has all Diamond BB's. Think its called Lakeview lanes

He got into the seniors today, starts friday
Ok....I am in that, plus the Open and Wednesday Warmup. If he wants to gamble I will be lurking all my free hours in the practice area. I can steer him to fair games because i know most of the regular champions. He can text me.

We can play $500 a set if I don't go broke before he gets to me!
3 $200 sets sounds good at least somebody wins $200

Better Act Fast……Public Service Announcement

Thanks for the heads up! I put in an offer, so will see what happens.
I think an offer of $340- 45 would get accepted if presented fast like you have done. The savings covers
shipping expense. $360 really is a good price when you see what others are sell it for. You can always bump
your offer if it’s too low. I found sending the seller a message indicating your sincerity helps reach a price
that he’ll counter back. My advice is don’t try to turn a great deal into a fantastic one by low balling or you
will miss out to others.
