Does anyone remember?

The Richie I think of when Dan Louie is in the conversation is Geiler.
At the bi yearly 9 ball tournament at The White Spot Danny and Richie matched up on the 9 foot gold crown. Several times with Richie getting the 8 ball. Danny won every time. Rich won 1 time when Danny declined the match until Rich offered straight up.
Greg, Rich offered to play Danny even if he bet his own money. Rich thought that was how the match was taking place. In his mind he thought Danny couldn't win that way. Geiler won the match even though Shoji had slipped Danny the cash to play. As Shoji crossed the room he left a trail of hundred dollar bills on the floor. He had a hole in his pocket and didn't realize it. So much of the game is in the mind.

Premium Chalks – Are They Worth It?

FYI, I just posted a new video that objectively tests the most popular new “premium” chalks to see how they compare to traditional Master chalk. The chalks tested are the medium hardness Predator Pure, Kamui Roku 6, and Taom V10. They are tested for miscue limit, persistence on the tip, persistence on the CB, and cling/skid/kick. Check it out:

Contents:
0:00 - Intro
0:49 - Miscue Limit
3:22 - # of Shots Before Miscue
5:17 - Chalk Mark Persistence
---- 5:38 – cling definition and demonstrations
---- 6:19 – FSR and SVB cling examples
---- 7:07 – chalk tests
8:42 - Cling/Skid/Kick
10:56 - Wrap Up

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy!
When TAOM V10 chalk came out I thought anyone who bought it would be stupid,$20? No way!!! I have always used a magnetic chalk holder, I hated having to walk around the table and having to look for it, having right at my side just made my pre-shot routine, more routine, so I bought a new chalk holder, the catch was I needed to spend $20 more to get free shipping which saved me $10, so I got the chalk for $10, I really didn't expect much but I have been using it ever since, I piece of chalk lasts me about 2 years, so it's less than 25 cents a week, I agree it doesn't perform any better but it's cleaner, cleaner on the table, cleaner on the balls, hope this helps if you're on the fence about trying Taom V10 chalk.

Barnhart butt only

I have a Barnhart Bacote Merry Widow with a black linen wrap that weighs 15.6oz for $950 shipped that still looks new, no dings or scuffs.

What differences are there between Mezz AirDrive2 jump cue and the newer AirDrive3?

OP @Paul Bell

Not a single response with any useful information. Forums are awesome lmao.

Anyway, seeing as to how I was able to procure an AD3 recently and have had an AD2 since 2022, thought I would post some of the key differences, with photos.

The main difference is the AD3 is a longer jump cue, and no, the “third” piece will not fit the shaft. But that was probably obvious.

AD2/3 mid piece = 12”
AD2 extension = 4”
AD3 extension = 10”

The shafts/ferrules are different, the AD3 shaft is 0.8oz lighter. The AD3 butt (ie mid without extension) is an ounce heavier, meaning just that the balance point is different. Also probably obvious since the AD3 has a longer 3rd piece.

Do I notice that difference? Nope.

The joint pins are different, but Mezz has always had tight manufacturing tolerances and I do not notice any massive advantage in the newer pin. Perhaps it was made slimmer to accomodate the 3rd piece. As someone rightly said before, the AD3 was designed as a 3 piece jump cue.

All this said, would it not be possible to just make a custom AD2 extension that would make the length and balance point closer to the AD3? More than likely.

“Feel” wise, I personally really did not notice that jumping is “easier” with any one version. The Tsubasa tip is slightly more responsive, but that’s about it.

Hope I answered your question.

Cheers!

Do you think that playing 14.1 / Straight Pool can help a players game out at all? At least with Consistency?

Ok. More serious, doing pool,,,, is a system. If you understand the state of your system and have clues to where the problems and solutions lie, then 14.1 can provide an all in one RnD project.

I used to tell myself, "Where you are is more important than where you wanna be."
So, find square one and make sure it's square.
