We recently saw a Schon cue factory tour, I am interested in comparing and contrasting all of what the current makers do.

Adam Musashi cues have a square core.

I have seen some "custom" makers using expanding adhesives around a core to fill the gap rather than machine to tight tolerances.

The Viking finger joint is featured in this video.

There is a u tube video where Mike Capone talks about how using expanding adhesives to fill gaps is not at all his definition of custom cue making.
I just bought my first Viking cue here last week - an N series cue 1989-92 six pointer. It is very well constructed and hits nice too! I wonder if they were finger jointed back then too? I will call and ask them - they have one old timer there- I was told.

If it is the exact same cushion as Diamond then being slightly higher could be the factor in slowing them down - IDK as I am not a physics guy - but the GC 7 that I played was recently installed by a known excellent installer. It had the Simonis 860 so comparison to a newer Diamond - the GC cushion was slower on rebounds for sure.

I only got 4.5 cushions on a solid hit up and down the table/ a newer Diamond gets 5 minimum in my experience.
My own GC 3 with new Simonis 860 and newer superspeeds gets 4.5 cushions up and down.

Feijen is such a nice guy away from the table, but when he's playing, he always looks like he's going to stomp on his opponent's head! One of my all-time favs.

If he knew what he knows about the game now 15-20 years ago, he'd have many more titles than he already does. This could apply to lots of other players, I suppose, but I am not sure I have seen a player's game grow so much between his mid to late 20s to his late 40s.
