Hi, this video kind of sucks, but it is the only thing I have to test straightness (these pocket lathe rollers). Anyways, does the movement that is shown appear to be more then a few thousandths? Thanks a lot. My camera also really kind of sucks, lol, because it is on a pretty old phone. So, it gets blurry during its attempts to auto focus, lol.

I’d have to see in person and put a dial indicator on it but that doesn’t look to be terribly warped.

Up to you on what you want to invest but it seems like that would be fine to refinish.

Whoever does the refinish can certainly advise you before proceeding.

Universal Cues - Aloysius Yapp

They put a lot of money into the game right now, they sponsor a lot of players now and they sponsored big tournaments in Asia.
I like some of the cues they make in terms of looks and the price is nice. Never hit with one though. I was actually toying with the idea of getting a cue from them, a Plain Jane, but I got big expenses coming up and the last thing I need is another cue... but who knows, you how it goes, sitting on the computer late at night, having one beer too many and next thing you know, there is a package on the way...
I've hit a few of them, and I cannot say they are bad or good. They do the job. Just like many other cues do. It's almost as if price, technical spiel and marketing don't matter at all...

Pool chalk

I am old school or at least old. Joss cue, wood shaft, no glove, blue Masters (until recently). After noticing how much chalk residue was left on my table from Masters chalk I switched to Taom and I think the chalk residue has been reduced by about 95%. Everything is so clean and of course it plays just fine with less chalking needed. So that is what I recommend. Buy one piece and see how you like it.

Oscar vs Meglino

I'm not sure if it was fatigue, the difficulty of the table/equipment, humidity, or something else - but I caught an hour two of action starting when it was like 52-50 and the pace, shot selection, and overall quality of play was not great.

Speaking of 3-9 combos, this was one shot I simply could not understand. With ball in hand, Oscar opted for this off-angle 3-9 combo and missed it badly. I get that position to the 4 is a bit funny here, but man this feels like a table that a player of Oscar's quality should run out 90% of the time. He got fortunate and ended up leaving Meglino a little funny and ended up winning the rack but this was a slow slog to the finish line

Did he hide the 3 or just cinch it?

Kaci, pro pool and prize money

There is far more prize money in pro pool than ever before. Top players are earning over 200K a year and many others over 100K. Only a few years ago those numbers were half that.

If you can break into the top 20-30 pros you'll be making a decent living. Shane, Filler, Gorsr, Yapp, Biado etc are not complaining. Yes, there are probably 40-50 good players out there grinding to eke out a subsistence. There dream is to reach the upper echelon. Grabe has been out there a good 15 years and I suspect that 25K is his biggest payday ever.

Believe me even in golf and tennis lesser players are grumbling about the prize money while the stars make millions.

Even if the prize money continues to increase this conversation will never end.
