Billard Eye Glasses

Just got back into pool after about a decade hiatus. In that time my eyesight isn't the same and realized after the first 10 minutes I wouldn't enjoy this game if I didn't find a solution.

I looked at contacts and the cost, upkeep and hassle wasnt worth it to me. I only wear glasses driving and watching tv. Which i could do without if needed. But shooting on a 8x4 i couldnt see the object ball clearly if it was more than 2-3 feet away. When I was wearing my glasses, over my cue my eyeline was looking over the top of my glasses. I couldn't shove them up into my face any more and I was still looking over them.

Did a Google search as I've seen snooker players wearing glasses during play. Found a website called Billard Glasses .com.

Sent a text and Gordon simply said call me. Which I did. He's a retired optician living in Montreal. Has been doing these for a long time and carried on as a hobby in retirement. Very easy to deal with. Sent my RX and PD. Week and a bit later, they're in my mailbox.

Work great. Exactly what they're designed to do.

What a stud I am hahaha.

Wow, those look great. How much are they?

Any videos of Dr Dave in an actual match?

A local player who is a Master level instructor, and has coached and helped several top national level junior players, is a mid-B level player who I don't think has a 2 pack to his name that I have seen in the 10 years I have known him. But his students have achieved high level play, including national titles in the 18 and under Junior National event, with at least 6 of the kids (including my son) finishing top 8 or winning their age groups. One year we had 2 1st place finishers, a 2nd, and 3 top 8s.
You need someone who can teach and play. Not one or ther other. Thats why Anthony Beeler and Joe Tucker have my vote as the best instructors in the US right now. Quite literally, I've been to about everyone. I know Beeler has worked with Sam Henderson, Ricky Evans and Cal Boll. Look at what they have done. Tucker is amazing with spin systems and innovating new products. These two are far above the rest. Not even close imho!

Bulletproof carbon playing shaft?

My Bulletproof shaft with a Recoil medium tip arrived yesterday and I went to shoot with it for a couple of hours. I originally wanted an 11.8mm as that's what I play with now, but they emailed me to tell me they're out of those. They asked if I wanted a 12.4mm or a refund. I opted for the 12.4.

After a couple of hours on two different cues and in direct comparison to a JFlowers Classic shaft with a Taom Fusion tip, I've no choice but to claim I am very impressed with the Recoil. It hits good, plays well with excellent chalk retention and ball control and did not require any of the maintenance a new tip will often require after a few hours of solid play. Nothing about the way it feels or sounds screams synthetic tip me. I would be clueless that I'm playing with a synthetic tip if I didn't already know I was.

I think it's a great tip and I think it will likely last longer than regular tips, with less maintenance required. Time will tell on that. Am I going to immediately rush out and replace the Taom Fusion, Caiden Fighter soft, Kamui Brown soft or Tiger Everest tips on my other regular players? No. Those tips all perform wonderfully on their respected cues. I would, however, consider the Recoil a prime choice for any replacements needed.
