Aramith Low end Billiard Balls

In my view Dynasphere will soon overtake Aramith and become the dominant force in global pool ball manufacture… if they haven’t done so already.

The folks in charge are super smart and super aggressive in a business sense.
You're lsted as a pool ball collector which peaks my interest because I too am a collector and recently started a very small collection of billiard balls. I am a history buff and so obviously wanted to start a collection of every type of billiard ball from the beginning on to the most recent.

Do you collect old billiard balls also? My collection consists of only 9 balls so far, each of which is a different material from clay to resin. I am trying to get a sample of each material that billiard balls were made of from the beginning to the present.

I'd be interested in hearing about your collection if you are willing to share it. Connecting with other collectors is always so rewarding.

Masse Cue

What makes a good masse cue. I have a custom made ( John Davis/Alex Brick) low deflection player with OB Classic shaft. I will always carry this cue. Also a jump break cue. I am a little afraid to do masse shots with my player. I do not want to carry a three butts. Should I get another shaft designed for masse to use on my player? Any suggestions?
Hey there. Bob is correct in what he is saying. I will add to that. A masse cue is shorter than a playing cue but longer than a jump cue. 14mm shaft/tip is what most of us use. 25oz is the going rate when it comes to the weight. Some go heavier; some go lighter. Most of us use an Elkmaster tip. The best option for you is to get the Action Masse cue. Plain black color with a 14mm shaft and an elkmaster tip. I am currently using an Action Masse cue until my custom masse cue is being built. If you saw me latest YouTube video, you will see that the action masse cue does the trick.

Hope this helps.

Careful Criticizing CSI Org

I was referring to the operators claiming the pockets were enlarged to speed up play because they went over time before.

I couldn't care less how big or small the actual pockets are, but it seems like a bandaid solution to a much bigger problem if they're actually using bigger pockets to try and speed up games.

If a big event has pockets smaller than most of the players are used to it is going to slow down the tournament. A few years ago the Derby went to 4.25 pockets on all tables. This is not an issue for the pros but for all the amateur players in the field it was a problem and the whole event fell behind. It’s not just missed balls, but also people playing safe more often because they don’t have confidence in making a tough shot. I believe they went back to 4.5” the following year.

I haven’t played on these Predators but the first reports I got from people playing on them at a big Canadian event (the CCS championships) is that they were playing tougher than the standard Diamond BB that people were used to (and this was with fairly new cloth). Sounds like they may have over-corrected though.

Aramith Low end Billiard Balls

Thanks for all of the information, I am going to check more into the Dynasphere balls. Always thought that Aramith was the top of the line used in most tournaments, but obviously that may not be the case. A lot to learn about this game of pool, that's why I'm so glad I joined this forum.

Aramith balls are the top of the line balls used in most tournaments -either Aramith Super Pros, Duramith etc or the Predator Arcos balls made by Aramith. There are a few pro tournaments I’ve seen with Dynaspheres. I haven’t played with them so I can’t comment on them.

Do you intend to play tournaments or leagues in your area? If so, I would see what the better places are playing with - if everyone is using Aramith I’d be inclined to stick with them rather than having a set different from every where else I played.

Is it Possible to CUT AN OBJECT BALL MORE THAN 90°?

Wow, I’ve known about the rail version of this shot, and about spin induced throw, for many years, but I must say I had no idea it was possible to cut a ball in at 90 degrees from out in the open like that. Nice video, thanks.
Btw, I’m new here but I’ve been subscribed to your YouTube channel for a few years, and I’m familiar with some of your other instructional material as well. Always fantastic stuff. Thank you sir, for all your contributions.

Alvarado goes undefeated to claim his first regional tour win on Sullivan Open Pool Tour

They’ve been trying to do it in a dizzying array of formats; specific, ranking-defined tournaments (‘500 and under,’ for example), split brackets (for High and Low rankings with a mix at the end), using staggered fees (for different rankings) and more than likely, formats we haven’t even heard of. Yet. All designed to attract more competitors, more ‘fannies to the tables’ and the rooms that run the events. The new-this-year, Jersey-based Sullivan Open Tour, with Hunter Sullivan at the helm, is trying to combine a lot of this into a tour that caters, on an event-by-event basis, to both higher […]
