Ronnie Wiseman stiff's me for $3900

How did he make it out with the money posted?

I know, it wasnt posted. But seems like another example of "MAKE-EM POST"

Sorry for your loss.

Ken

It's easy to say all that, but when playing a known gambler, sometimes you don't worry about it so much. It's not like the guy will dissapear from the pool world. He does have something to lose - his reputation and integrity - by stiffing you.

Unfortunately, all these corporate issues pop-up that have nothing to do with you, but obviously effect you.

Moral: Is always make 'em post. No matter who.

The best solution is to have the money for each bet go into the hands of a third party BEFORE each part of the match starts.

An air barrel is ONE GAME and everyone is entitled to an air barrel after losing a large number of games, for what ever amount.

This just kills me, how do you have a right to gamble with money you don't have? I know why people do this and it's common practice but it shouldn't be and it's not even close to a right or entitlement. If you're dumb enough to go broke gambling, you shouldn't be trying to stiff someone out of their money.

The thing that bothers me the most is the professional would never let the local get away without paying. You rarely hear of a local guy stiffing a professional when gambling.

Well, I have your t-shirt ready. lolz

broke???

wasn't he in north carolina at the pool tournament this past weekend? ... it's none of my business but if he was broke he got unbroke really quickly.

Just want to let everyone know that Ronnie stiffed me for $3900 at my poolroom in Hattiesburg. I am not a good player at all and he beat me at the same game that i happen to win this time. We played for 2 days straight and he paid me most of it but during our match in the middle of the night he promised to pay the next day if i let him continue to play. I thought there would be no problem. I know he had Scott Frost and Justin Hall hanging around with him and now he is saying they were in and he cant pay me until they pay him. That was not our agreement. I wanted to quit so this wouldnt happen but his words out of his mouth were I will pay you in full the next day. Well, guess what? He left town the next day and is trying to tell me they are responsible. I have talked to both of them and they are saying he is crazy. I am not going to chase the guy around or anything but i want to let everyone know what happened.
Shawn: Sorry this happened to you. I know personally how much it sucks. (not from Ronnie) Some say you deserved it for not posting. No, you don't deserve it. But, when you lay your 'peter' out on the table and dare someone to smack it, rest assured, someone eventually will!

Trying to look at all sides of what you posted, I can understand Ronnie's way of thinking. I seriously doubt Scott and Justin would have hung around if they weren't 'in' with Ronnie. In his eyes, he paid you. The rest was on them.

Where Ronnie is wrong, and he has to take the heat for it, is that the game was set up with you and him. Not the others. Regardless of who all is in on the bet, it's Ronnies' bet, and his responsibility. But if it where me, I would be looking just as hard at Scott and Justin as I would at Ronnie when it comes to any more gambling with them involved.

Sometimes people forget we live in an 'open' world nowdays. And a lot of info gets spread around real fast. Remember- it only takes one "aw sh!t" to erase a thousand "attaboys"! And people tend to rember stepping in that 'stuff' a lot longer!

Ronnie Wiseman

Wasn't your bet with Scott and something to do with moving the coin? My understanding is that Ron was going to quit but Scott said he would put some up and when Ron gets beat, game over you should have talked to Scott and BTW did Ron pay you after each game/set you played? I know I'm biased here because Ron is a friend of mine and I've never known him to F*&^ someone over like you describe!

I'm friends with Gary A. who won the tourney & Gary called me & told me That....Ronnie "NOT TOO" Wise man & Scott called him and everybody they knew trying to put the almighty bite down once they was busted so they could keep playing....Amazes me about pool players sometimes...Scott beat Gary out of 20 thousand a few years back & calls to try & put the bite on him...asked for alot more but said...how bout $500 ?....I would never even think about trying to so say "Borrow" money from somebody that I made a major score on...but that's just me...thank God that's it's been a few decades since I can say that i been in the busted with my nose wide open position....Just my 2 cents on it.

Welcome to the forum, Troy.
Thanks for the input.

Hope you and Gary A get a chance to come to New Orleans and give the Rusty Rifle some action.

This is not the first time Ronnie has done this. He did this to a top pro in Reno during the Open a couple of years ago. Ronnie told him that he had the rest of his money in the hotel safe and ended up around $3000 down. And wouldn't you know it....he skipped town. He's a real class act.

Yes, there was some side action with Scott but he quit when Ronnie got down ten games. He gave the money to Ronnie. There were 6 witnesses. Ronnie then said he would stand good for the bet. We continued to play until he was 17 game looser. I told ronnie to square the penny off or i dont want to continue. He replied that noway would he lower the bet and that i would be in the wrong if i quit him while he was down. I was betting $500 a game with $200 a game on the penny. I got aired the 17 games on the penny and $500 for the last game. Ronnie gave me his word several times that he would pay me the next day. He even tried to run his debit card for the $3900 at the pool room. Which was declined. He even ask for my information so he could wire the money since he had to attend a tournament in the Carolina. All the other road players stayed for another week. He is the only one who left the next day. He was suppose to wire the money this monday. All weekend he was cool about it and apologetic. Now that he is almost in Canada he is saying he doesnt owe a penny. I have contacted Scott several times to see if he can get ronnie to make it right. Ronnie will not answer his calls because Ronnie is trying to put it off on Scott. I have about 60 text messages from Ronnie that would tell the whole truth with out having to believe what i say or anyone else. Why would he try and run his debit card at my pool room for the full amount and why would he get my info for wiring the money. Now that he isnt in front of me or them guys he is denying it.

lol, "tried to run his debit card for $3900 and it was declined". You don't say?

I want to make sure this message doesnt go bad for the other guys. They were not responsible for any of the debt to my knowledge. I only listed there names so they know that Ronnie is trying to put it off on some of them.

I think everyone knows that you must post if you want to get paid. But I have played several guys that go bust in the middle of a game but want to keep playing. I would let it go so far on their word. I took the chance. I just met Ronnie a year ago in my poolroom where i lost $4500 to him and paid every penny without question. I thought with him being a PRO and with his status he would not do this. This is what i get for thinking. I appreciate all the replies. Some make jokes but i think their right and some are positive. I have even had alot of private messages. Thanks to all. Any questions feel free to ask. My only reason for this thread is so that nobody lets it happen to them. Dont trust him

Maybe you are best served to learn your lesson and move on instead of damaging someones only way to make a living. Getting stiffed is a part of gambling and not just in pool.........hell ask the bookies if they get paid on all bets!!

Yeah ... and drug dealers, and bankrobbers, and burglars too.
Leave em alone ... they are just trying to make a living.
I am glad to hear that it is OK to cheat em, Shark em, win any way you can.
And if you lose ... just dont pay ... that is just part of the game.

All I can say is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

You guys thinking this has ruined his action are way off. Next time he tries to match up, he will still get a game, .

Usedtobe,
You are so right. Case in point is THIS THREAD.

It was posted here on AZB within the past couple of years that Ronnie stiffed the SVB consortium (including some prominent AZB'ers) for a LOT of money. Few people listened judging from the glowing remarks after Ronnie's recent performance on television and from this thread.

There is some advantage to reading AZB carefully. Let's name it the Ruberto/Wiseman Effect - a positive effect on your bankroll when you are aware of it's existence.

Wow. If only I'd known then, what I know now.

I've found this thread very enlightening. If I knew you didn't have to pay off gambling bets, I'd been betting much higher than I have in the past. Thanks for the information.

Anyone want to play some $500,000 sets?
