Bad news- there's a thief amoungst us

Without more details this thread accomplishes very little. Everyone knows that there are thieves in every corner of the universe, but without giving some details the OP is not helping anyone at all. I fail to understand the reason for this thread..

Maybe it's like the colored light thingie for homeland security. The cue case alert went from yellow to red in the NE. Take your gas masks with you until you get back to old yeller.

If someone told me that a bunch-o-cases had been lifted in my region I'd tie an extra long piece-o-twine from my case to my lower relatives. Right now I just have a blast-o-red skunk ink rigged up.

sticking up for pool players!

As long as we're outing the hidden fact that there are theives in pool rooms, I might as well add to the bad news....some poolplayers have bad breath & sometimes tell small white lies. :sorry:

Jim

Jim,

I have to stick up for pool players here. I know very few that tell small white lies. They have much more imagination than that!

I wasn't to happy. It just happened to be my shaft that went missing. Oh well, stuff happens. But I was mad for a minute.

edit to my post, re-read the beginning - you said New England, can you narrow it down to the places you have been when it happened, it might give someone a better idea as to where this is happening. thx.

Thanks Hu, I think that I now understand.

Poolplayers are more like fishermen and politicians.

This reminds me of those people who forward all those emails about the "gang initiations", or the "rapist at the mall who hides in your car", or the "latest virus that will melt your computer that no virus scanner can detect", or that "Bill Gates will give you $500 if you forward this email to 50 of you friends".

Newsflash: people steal things. It ain't new. It's been going on for...oh, I dunno, a few thousand years at least.

I just forwarded this thread to Dateline and 60 Minutes. Hopefully they'll do follow up stories in the coming weeks.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. the past two times I played in pool tournaments someone took something that didn't belong to them. By saying I witnessed it, I meant, the person that lost these things made everyone in the room aware someone had stolen from them. I didn't see who stole from them. I just want to make people aware of what's going on so it doesn't happen to them.

So where were you playing so we can keep an eye out? In the past month I have played at 4 different pool halls in the greater Boston area. It would be nice to know if any of the establishments that I regularly visit are having problems with kleptomaniacs hanging out.

Jim, that's not very nice of you to paint such a sad/bad picture about pool players. No wonder this sport can't go anywhere. Shame on you.

I learned a long time ago that the best practical way to secure your case, Armani Leather jacket, etc. is to put them under the table you are playing on. It works.

Tom got third place at the tournament in Woburn.

LOL @ these replies. Some of them are pretty funny.

In all seriousness though, sure we all know people steal things, and yet, every now and then someone gets complacent and lets their guard down, and some sleazebag is right there plotting on them. So the reminder is obviously needed. Keep a close eye on your sh!t!

How soon we forget?

As many know already, but may I remind everyone of the great cash ripoff in Boston a couple of years ago. I am getting old, I think it was Boston . So we do know there are big time thieves in New England. Was that money every recovered?

Last night at Snookers, in Providence RI, a friend of mine had their whole case stolen...i think there were 2 cues in it. (i wasn't there, just got the info). I feel real bad, can only imagine how pissed i would be if it happened to me..
