No, they really wanted to, but it's packed with standing room only and it would be just asking for trouble trying to set up recording equipments there.

I'm sure if they announced that they were, then someone else would start streaming from there as quickly as possible.

I love how things work in the pool world.
I went and looked at the Rum Runner but as Sunny said there was just no room for gear anywhere. They pack the place wall to wall for this event.
Just to clarify some other postings I have seen about TAR at Valley Forge, we will not be streaming the pro event. We have a couple of booths down stairs with a 7 foot Diamond. I am thinking that most of our coverage will be product demos, interviews, some small challenge matches if there is room for them. Mostly it will be just a look what life is like on the floor of the Super Billiards Expo. It will be free and until I see the layout I dont know if it will work for serious action or not.
One thing I am concerned with is if the convention center has the bandwidth for 3 simultaneous streams. If there is a problem with that we will stop streaming. We don't want to screw things up for people trying to watch the pro event. I cant remember the numbers on the bandwidth from last year but I think it should be OK.

Well if it is 500 up then someone is screwed. No way you get two quality streams out of the pro event with that. Maybe I won't take the video gear after all. I will call Spider Web Dave. He will have the scoop.
I am pretty sure when Dave tested last year it was 500 and your right it is not enough at all for 2. :frown:
Lenny, when you say 500, do you mean 500 kbps? If so, that's pretty small taters...

Yeah that is what I am talking about,I have done streams with as little as 350 but the quality degrades and gets choppy,not recommended at all but sometimes its all you have and you have to make the best of it.
That is one of my concerns. Jerry had 600 up in Turning Stone and that was good. But 500 up for two streams is not going to work and everyone's stream will look like crap.

Has anyone contacted the IT staff at the event?
I'm sure they would have the ability to prioritize the traffic to get better performance. I sincerely hope your not just getting an Internet connection that your sharing with everyone else at the 2 hotels. When the company I work for does this sort of thing we contract for the amount of bandwidth we need with the host hotel.

The last time I did a site survey at the location with the network guy, there was a 10Mb/s up and down connection (synchronous).
It's just a matter of setting up public IP addresses and QoS between the streamers. If that can be done, it will (when I arrive late Wed morning). If for some odd reason it can't be.... well, there's nothing anyone can do about it now. In the future, there should only be 1 streamer in the playing area and possibly one outside of the playing area.
I wouldn't sweat it too bad because I know how to tech-it-out for everyone involved... it's just a question of who I'm working with on the hotel's end... if they're worth anything or not. The last guy I worked with was a genius... so I'm not losing sleep over it. The people at home will have a good show.

A 10mb synchronous connection should be enough for everyone as long as you get a priority QOS. It always helps to have the 1 network guy who knows what they're doing.

Ideally you should always be vlan-ed on your own network with some sort of level of guaranteed bandwidth.
Its helps because you dont get the network chatter on the host lan.
