Need a lesson? Scott Lee is the man for you!!

So I just had a four hour lesson with Scott Lee.

......snipped........

I had a 4 hour lesson from the great Scott Lee too about 3-4 years ago. I wish I had dedication to keep myself adjusted to the methods he taught me. I still instill his methods...but not consistently. Every time I feel I am missing not because I can't see the shot it's because I fell off my course of using what I learned. Keep that back arm like a pendulum, don't drop the elbow, follow though and stay down....oh, and stick with it!

Did he do the $1000 bill bet with you too.....:thumbup2: ?

Glad you enjoyed your time w/ Scott.

I enjoyed my lesson with Scott it has helped me alot ... In fact it has really changed my whole game ... At first it seemed simple and kind of like man I learned this stuff when I first started playing ... But honestly it has changed my game (The lessons with Scott Lee) and made me much more consistant . The stroke the follow through but also the eye pattern material ... I think that in itsself has made my game jump by leaps and bounds ... That 2 second thing and lining up has me making shots that were very questionable for me before the lesson...

Also Scott was a very good to work with and very friendly and very proffessional... He never slowed down and never took a break. I know I paying for the lesson but man next time Scott gets here we need to take a smoke break once in awhile ...lol ... I'm sure he was only thinking about me and not wanting to waist time on my dime ... But I dont mind a break here or there. lol... Also when Scott came we booked a month or two in advance and right before he came things got bad at the plant I work at ... Scott came anyway and he worked with me on the finanacial aspect. He was just super to work with ... If times were better I would of already had him back... But the plant I worked at for 20 plus years is in the middle of shutting down ... I know I will have Scott back at my house in the future as soon as the Economy gets better or things get better for me ... It was a pure pleasure and has helped my game more then I thought it would ...

Also on a side note I have two good friends I told about mmy visit from Scott Lee ... Both wanted my to check my lessons one wanted to record them so I did not let him have them. As I feel this is how Scott makes a living and did'nt feel right about that ... But Danny my best friend watched the CD and at first was like me ... Telling me man this guy must think you don't know how to play he is teaching you beginner stuff... He laughed at the CD's and the way Scott was getting onto me a little for some of the stuff I did wrong ... (I really did'nt think Scott was but my friend was picking at me) He was mocking Scott talking about this is Butch's Stroke , This is Butch's follow through ... He sat though both CD's and I figured he did'nt care much for it ... But much to my surprise about a week later we were playing a tourny and he told me man those CD's really help don't they ... He told me it was taking him sometime to adjust to the new method but he was a firm believer in what Scott was teaching ..Telling me that guy really knows his stuff don't he? Know everytime we get together around our friends he always tells them how I had a proffessional pool intructor come to the house and how good he is ... He has all my freinds wanting to check out the CD's and so far I have only let him see them because I'm afraid to loan them out for fear I will not get them back. So I am kind of guared with the discs becuase I still go back to them quite a bit to refrence them.

It has been several months since Scott was here but his teachings were a big help... I plan to have him return as soon as things pick back up here. And I may see if my Danny wants to join us ... I would highly recommend Scott Lee to anyone ...

I have been thinking about getting a lesson from Scott but I do not have my own table (rent a townhouse with inadequate room). As a result I don't get to practice consistently. I fear that the lesson would not be a great investment until I can have a more consistent practice routine. Anyone have any comments regarding this situation?

Thanks,

Steve

While it is true that the more you practice the faster things will become ingrained and the faster/more you will improve, that doesnt mean you cant benefit from a lesson with Scott.

Depending on where your game is, there could be some things that you learn that you dont even have to practice to get better. Just by understanding they could help you, tangent lines or diamond systems for example.

Keep things relative. I like to tell people that if they play one day a week, and apply what they are taught, they will play better than most people that play one day a week :)

Butch...Glad you had a good time, and are still learning (we ALL are, including me!). Remember, I told you that YOU would have to initiate breaks, as otherwise I'd work your ass off at the table! LOL Next time you'll know better, and say, "Scott, I need a smoke break!"

Those are your lesson dvds, and you are welcome to share them with anyone you choose. The information is no secret...it's the way it's presented that means a lot to the student. IMO, you should make your buddies pay you SOMETHING to watch them. Afterall, you paid a lot to get them!...but that is your call, my friend! It's generous of you to share.

I always try to answer questions from anyone on here who asks. Yes, I make my living teaching pool, but it is more about the teaching, to me, than it is about the $$$! I'm blessed to be good at what I do, and what I know...but the best part is being able to share it with others who love the game too! We are all perpetual students of the game, and the day you stop learning, is...well, the day you stop learning! Good instructors are constantly learning new and better ways to communicate our ideas to our students! Thanks to everyone for the kind words!...and yeah, David, I DO owe ya lunch!

Tomorrow I'm off to a sunny month on the beach in FL! Bryan...See you Saturday!

Steve,

During my lesson with Scott, I thought that I was going to have to practice for hours to get it all together. The simple truth is that you don't!! He gives you drills to do, and they take nothing but a few minutes each. If you do every drill, it may take you and hour, and that's only because you want to take a break between drills. Find a friend that is serious about pool and has a pool table, and try to talk him into taking the lesson with you. That's what my friends and I did. 3 of us took the lesson one day. It was done at my buddies house, we took turns and he went first. I didn't sit in any of the other lessons, nor did they. Once you finish your lesson, you'll see that it is the best money you have ever spent on this wonderful game.

After that, all it takes to practice is determination, and maybe going to your friends house, or paying an hour of table time at your local pool room. Good luck my friend, and I really hope you take a lesson with Scott. It is well worth it!!

I am pretty fortunate down here in Clearwater. Most of the local pool halls have a flat rate for playing during the day.

For example, Park Place Billiards is $5 to play all you want from open till 7pm. Seven days a week.

That is the same as strokers right down the street and also it's free from open to 7pm 7 days a week for league members!

I wish Strokers had an APA 9 ball league. I drive past Strokers to get to Hammerheads every Monday Night! :-P

8 Ball league runs way too late some nights. 1am on weekdays is unacceptable! :-)

I would much rather play free pool at Strokers. Their tables play 100x better than the tables at PP.

.... and Strokers has good food.
.... and Strokers has harder working staff
.... etc

I agree... but IMO the tables at Hammerheads are THE BEST!

But they cost ya.

Its like there's no happy medium, but Stroker's does come close.

oh no, the tables at Strokers are better than Park Place. PP and Strokers both have Robertson tables, but the ones at Strokers play much better.

Hammerheads tables are the Bomb. I Love Diamonds. :-D

I should have been more specific! I am very pleased with Hammerheads :-) My 9 ball team recently moved there from Park Place. If strokers had a 9 ball league we sould have moved there instead.

I knew that - I haven't been to Park Place in a while. FWIW, it's great to have a room like Dan has put together. That place is absolutely gorgeous. You walk in and its wall to wall Diamonds - as it should be!

I agree, the place is gorgeous.

Now if only I could shoot Dan's speed! :-)

I was up there last night giving a friend of mine waaaay too much weight on the Diamond Bar Boxes. I usually only like playing on the big tables, but even the 7ft diamonds are a pleasure to play on.

They are always talking about a 9ball league at strokers, right now they have an inhouse 9ball league (not apa, on tuesday nights) so really your only playing for money at the end and it's usually a lot of money. talk to jose i'm sure if he had more people committed to it that he would look into it.
