Galveston BIG MONEY TOURNAMENT

They did that last fall, when this "tournament" was first announced here. The fact that they still have not addressed standard issues (those that would at least give people a reason to make plans to come), imo, says a lot. Every day they wait, is another nail in the coffin, that will prevent this 'event' from being the success we would all like to see it become.

This tournament has a chance to make history, wouldn't miss it for the world. Oh yeah its only a 2 hour and 45 min drive for me!

Just got off the phone with one of the gentlemen in Galveston....good guy, we were on the phone for about 30 minutes.....he had answers to the vast majority, if not all, of the questions I had and those posted by everyone.....I get the impression he has a good head on his shoulders and has the help needed, both financially and tournament support/directors, to make this thing a big success....

There will be a big press release coming out VERY soon, answering these questions and more.....I look forward to that release and look forward to everyone getting the answers they need in the very near future....

Now I just gotta convince the wifey that we need to vacation in Galveston in September....would be nice if we could get a party caravan together for all of us headed south out of Dallas.....also, I hope he does answer everyones questions in full and we get a ton of folks from all over....would be great to see a few old friends again and make a ton of new ones...

So spill the beans Big Perm!! What did they say? How deep will they pay? Any added money? Will any prizes be escrowed.......where will the teams come from?.........

The gentleman prefers to answer all of this in his release that will be out wtihin a week, if not much sooner....the release will be on AZ as well.....I respect that decision...also, I'd hate to mess up, give the wrong answer to one of the questions (my notes suck), and then look like an A$$....yeah, I know it's happened before, but I'm trying to grow as a person :D
 
I actually just got a message from one of the organizers as well. I had contacted him to arrange an interview with them for the InsidePool Magazine video podcast interviews while we are in Vegas. I haven't called him back yet but will post more details once I do.

And I did see a full page advertisement in one of the regional billiard magazines recently. It wasn't InsidePool or Pool & Billiards or Billiard Digest but I don't remember the name of it, just saw it at the Fast Eddies in Lubbock this weekend.

I don't know Bobby, but I have met Clark Rone. I did call Clark, he had given me his card when we met, and I spoke to him for a few minutes. He did recognize my concerns and mention of this thread. After our phone conversation, I fully expected him to talk with his people and someone would reply to us. However, that has not happened, and I don't know why.

I would love for this event to happen. My fingers are still crossed.

:D I believe his name was Bobby, very nice guy.....he expounded on very soon to mean within a week, possibly as soon as a day or two....I found him to be genuine and sincere...

Bumping this back up....anyone see any adverts for this on AZ anywhere or in pool mags, or anywhere else for that matter? I was told this would be out right about now, but I don't get any mags or usually know where to look for this kind of stuff :D

We need the info soon, I would definitely like to offer a booming voice of support for this great event.....anyone find the details???

Update

I recently streamed the Bogies 9Ball tourney in Houston. Bobby Rone & Clark Rone gave an interview to Cristina DelaGarza for Inside Pool. Cristina did a lot of commentating on the stream.

She answers several question, plus you get to see Hillbilly double dip SVB!!!

There was supposed to be some news coming as of May 1. We'll just have to wait and see. Today is May 4 and no news yet. Not a good sign. Sorry to be "cryptic" here, but my source has asked to remain confidential. I'm sure I will hear more soon, one way or the other.
