i had a cue for sale in the for sale section and received an offer to buy after i had closed my business. being away from my computer i did not see this pm.

i then received a phone call and the caller decided to buy the cue. he was online and wrote in the thread that he would take the cue.

when i got to work the following morning i found the other message and notified the other person that the cue was sold.

he was a little upset, so i told him that i would build him another cue at a reduced price. and this still did not please him

did i screw up or was the offer fair. chuck

I think your offer was certainly fair. When you have something for sale online, you have to consider that somebody can offer at anytime. So perhaps you could have told the caller you wanted to check your PMs/post before committing to sell.

But it sounds like you've done the right thing by offering at reduced price. If you can't please this buyer, then I don't know what to say.

Bummer

While it is a bummer for the guy who missed out, I don't think there was any wrong doing on your part. It isn't like you sat on an offer waiting to see if you could make an extra $20 off someone else. It is just something that can happen with alternate modes of communication.

Chuck your reputation stands for itself, things happen and you were more than fair not much else you can do!!!!!!

I think he screwed up by not taking your offer for a discount on a new cue. So, to undo this injustice I'll take the discount!

Given the circumstances, you did the right thing. Someone was going to be outside looking in no matter if you sold to the PMer or to the caller. You made a fair offer to the PMer.

You could always make the same offer to the caller and see if he would give up this cue in exchange for a new build with the same discount you offered the PMer but, I imagine, the cue is probably on its way to the caller....

I've had plenty of deals fall through after receiving an "I'll take it." Now I just say that "I'll take it" doesn't reserve you the item, your money in my hand does. ;) You went the extra mile with your discount offer.

In the right!!

Sounds like you already went above and beyond in trying to make this customer happy. No way your fault at all!I can't believe even a discount wouldn't make him happy!Sounds like he would'nt be satisfied even it you gave it to him for free!!

In a perfect world you would have replied to the PM, but you did not. I see zero wrong, as you can not be on the NET 7 x 24 x 365.

I had a Justis Case once for sale had 15 PM's with 1 hours, and took the first offer I saw of full price, the others lost out, no one was upset of the other 4 that had the same offer!

You made a deal with someone else before seeing his message. So you have been plenty fair with him. You really don't even owe him a discount and to offer one was generous. He probably does not want to wait for another cue to be done so he declined.

You did right and somepeople just cant wait it's a now or never thing... it's like wants and necessity thing or hit the right emotion for the spontanious sale and never really wanted it till that moment. Kinda like being out bid on ebey do I bid again or let it go.
