Possible millions in pricemoney in a new World 8-ball Tour!!!

Yeah...this is a real winner. You're recommending that pro players CHEAT by hiring someone to pose as them online...what a great concept, and strikes at the heart of why pro pool gets no corporate support. Geez...gotta vote that concept down, from the get go.

Are you voting down the entire concept of a poker/pool tournament of this nature or only the concept of pool players collaborating with skilled poker players as expressly recommended by Roy, who seems to be only speaking as an individual who has nothing to do with the rules of the tournament and who presumably wasn't making such a recommendation on behalf of the tournament's owner?

Actually, of all the suggestions surrounding this concept this might be one of the ones that could make it work.

Why not have teams like this where the poker players put in the pool players? If you are a known top pro you give up weight in the pool portion of the tournament. Otherwise allow the poker players who qualify to nominate anyone they choose to be their player. I can see all kinds of sponsorship deals happening around this.

That might actually work if tons of pool players start getting bunches of poker players to sponsor them.

I HONESTLY do NOT see thousands of online poker players getting off their asses to go play in a pool tournament. One part of it is that they just flat out cannot play pool and two they like to make their money sitting down.

This truly requires a physical presence at a game that they are unable to play well and takes them away from something they already enjoy and fancy themselves to be quite good at.

So sure - make the this about SPONSORING real pool players into the events.

Imagine the headlines - Daniel Negraneu signs Johhny Archer to a $40,000 sponsorship deal to be his proxy player in the $2 Million Dollar Vincent Poker and Pool Challenge!

Or something like that.

He has a point, they really almost have to do real-life poker to avoid cheating, there's no way to do that online. In addition to having someone log on for them, a pool playing 'ringer' could have such a person at their house, or have that person play while they sleep... and I've seen online games just plain get hacked though I'd hope a good poker website would take measures against it.

The idea of mixing pool and poker is a good one but this is a big problem, scott's right to make a big deal out of something roy was only joking about.

John...I agree that the "concept" of teaming up pool players with poker players has possible merit. However, this is not the concept that Mr. Facquet is promoting, and the idea of suggesting that pro players should "cheat the system" for financial gain is sickening. As big a con man as Trudeau is, at least he made sure you were who you said you were.

Well I guess one has to define the system first. At the moment the system is nothing more than a statement that somehow poker will fund some pool tournaments.

I suppose that's one reason for the "AZ Think Tank" - to get free feedback.

Roy didn't suggest that pro players should cheat. He said some would probably hire pro poker players to make sure they got into the tournament. Just as I feel that some pro poker players would "hire" pool players to play for them. It's only "cheating" if this practice is forbidden. If it's allowed then it's within the system.

Trudeau made sure you were who you said you were? What championships did Bernie Friend win? There were MANY others who did NOT deserve to be in the IPT who put in applications that I am sure were more than slightly embellished and some of those folks were chosen. Perhaps Trudeau's people did ID checks but they probably didn't fact check very well on some of the pro players. Or perhaps it was just whoever got their $999 in first was "in" regardless of their actual ability.

Like I said though - make it a pool/poker partnership - win the qualifier and put in whoever you want. THAT might interest gambling crazy poker players. I can just see message boards lighting up with poker players offering bigger slices of the prize money bidding on certain pool players.

That could become big. I can see all sorts of stakehorses jumping in this trying to get "their" player qualified.

I'd have to throw some money at it if I could send a few ringers. Only problem for me is that I need someone who can play poker as well as people who can play pool :-)

poolpok.com

Hi Guys,

Your Idea is good but it's not the one I trying to make.
I've choosen poker online because a lot of players can play at the same time and without any travel expenses.
Of course I will choose a poker site that I trust and they will have nothing to win because the money is when you play pool.

It's true that I can't make sure who is behind teh computer but I will know who is playing pool, because the one that register and qualify will play pool nobody else.

I thank you all the players who have already registered and for the ones who are no sure don't forget the registration is free. The money will be asked when anough players will be interested.

All the best,

Vincent,

Worth a Shot!

Regardless of what happens it will be top pros or great players at the end playing for some excellent money, hopefully on TV. ...and that will open eyes, and get thousands of kids into pool.

Even better if it is not the usual joke race to 7 finals with half of it edited. Live, 3 to 8 hour matches showing every shot, just like TV snooker in the UK... they do live all day for 2 straight weeks I hear...and people love it.

I don't see any other geniuses creating this type of prize money in pool.

Plus the entry is under 50 bucks so what has anyone got to lose?

I'd recommend everyone sign up and see what happens!

Mad Max

Maybe a whole bunch of top poker players will try to learn how to play pool.

Earl Strickland vs Phil Helmuth would make good TV.

Hi Max,

Thank you for your support I need it, I hope the pool players will follow.

Take care,

Vincent,

I couldn't agree more. These poker-pro/pool-pro match ups are bound to happen anyway, so you might as well exploit it and use it to your advantage. It could make for some interesting outcomes, while avoiding some potentially controversial situations.

Hi agree Nathan but right now I can't do both, maybe later.

Pro poker/pool player collaboration

about this pro pool players and poker players collaborations?

if i win a qualifier and i for many reasons i cannot play in the tournament, can i assign a pro to my spot, or maybe not even a pro but a top player that i may know to play in my spot.

i play pool but im in school and will not be able to come overseas to play due to college.

hoping that u will let this sponsorship thing come through vincent. i feel that many like me will agree on this

one final note: can someone repost the link to register bcuz the current link posted by Roy is not working

Sorry that's not possible the player who qualify is the one that plays pool.

All the best,

Vincent,

i think it is a fantastic idea. someone is actually DOING something new. if you do not like it, don't enter - simple as that, whats the point in knocking the idea? pool needs all the coverage and ideas it can get. ever heard the saying "all publicity is good publicity"?. I for one will deffo try my luck!

all the best with this vincent!

Hi Olive,

Thank you for your support, I have an anouncement due to the request of many players I won't invite any pro players for the first tournament.
For the second The top 8 from the first event will go directly at the pool tournament.

All the best,

Keep register,

Vincent,

I think that this concept would be MUCH better suited in a team format. I think it would be really really cool to see a top poker pro teaming up with top pool pros. You would also have a lot of guys that aren't "stars" that could be very competitive. Perhaps a format where the overall performance by teammates in both disciplines determines the winner.

The problem with this tournament, to me, is that you could conceivably only qualify maybe 2 guys that could even hope compete with any of the real pros that end up in the final tournament.

Vincent...This is a GREAT idea, and a perfect way to kick off your concept...which is about bringing more players into pool anyway! Hope you get a tremendous turnout! I already have one student that I want to sponsor for this. He's a great poker player, AND a good pool player too!

I totally agree Olive. I think the real reason pool has never taken off is because of this same mentality in which the players and the fans always find all the reasons that something won't work, or complain about rules, format, etc. What promoter/sponsor wants to get involved with that when the fans and the players are the ones who will benefit???? Talk about shooting yourself and the game you love in the foot!! Why can't we for once here in AZ Land give pool a chance and support it!!!
