yowza! anyone see the latest hot pool chick?

One thing about Zarah is that she's always practicing and is sincerely trying her best to improve as a player. It's not just her looks that give her potential.

If you met her, and saw how hard she is working at pool and what a sweetheart she is, it would be tough not to root for her.

Personally, I think it's risky to throw someone into a tournament like that before they can really compete. I think it just adds uneccessary pressure to the developement process.

We'll see!

Curious question: If she lives in Chicago, how is she representing the Philippines?

Perhaps because she is Filapino?

I did find some of her art online and it's amazing. Where are the pics that she has taken at the tournaments you mention I would like to see those.

Not tournaments...one was an exhibition last Feb., at Pressure Billiards in Chicago, and then the Predator Pool School, a couple of days later, at Palace Billiards, in Villa Park, outside Chicago. Both events featured Hohmann, Bustamante, and CW. CW set up the event(s), and did the promoting. The pictures were posted here by CW the week after the event. I'm sure you can do a search and find them.

Marissa...I disagree that Zarah playing prevented someone else (a 'worthy pro') from an invite. CW can invite whomever he pleases. If someone else should have received an invitation, it certainly was not because Zarah was invited. If they only had 47 women, then this event surely could have had many more participants...worthy or otherwise. No doubt, the travel expenses to the PI would keep many from attending. As far as playing in the event and taking pics...that happens all the time, and is not a conflict of interest, imo. Some lady pros have posted up pictures of WPBA events, that they played in.

1 - As a photographer myself, I would love to see some of Zarah's work. Is there a website? (If she is a professional, she will have one.)

EDIT: Found her art on DeviantArt and she's an amazing artist. I don't see any event photography that CW would benefit from, though. If anyone has an official site for her, please post it.

2 - That doesn't warrant an invitation to play in a world championship.

3 - If being a professional photographer does warrant an invitation, where is Lara Rossignol on the list of invites? She has to be one of the best photogs in the country and a damn good pool player on top of that.

Lara rocks. No doubt.

Photography is a lot like pool in the sense that there isn't a very good definition of 'pro'. Some try to say that you have to earn more than half your income from it. If you follow that criteria then the best photographers I know who are world renown would not be considered 'pros' because they invented a product or do a lot of public speaking.

Wow Pat, thanks for scouring the internet to find a picture of me. Sorry, I didn't look for any of your pics to post. You must be one of those weird stalker types. Are you by chance a Charlie William's fan? Oh well, since Chicago is only 10 hours away, I guess I'll be seeing your happy face this coming weekend. Me and my asterisk will see you then!

Interesting how she says she wants to "Change the image of women's billiard in the Philippines" and she is posed laying down on a bed in her nighties...Just what image is she portraying? I get it, if you're young and pretty, you don't have to play descent pool... just show some skin, right?

WHAT A JOKE!

are you seeing a picture that i'm not? all i see is a picture of a woman who seems to be showing no facial expression at all

i always find this amusing.
we all know that based on numbers, pool is a predominantly male sport.
and since there are not as many women in the pool scene, whenever a female is spotted a majority of guys will start staring and jockin her like shes one of the hotest chicks theyve ever seen, even though shes kinda beat.
I observed this many times in Vegas at the BCA. Semi attractive cue raffle girl gets eye fucc'd by 8 out of 10 guys walking by.
Im not saying this is wrong, so dont get it twisted. Im probably guilty of it too.
I just find it funny and amusing how standards are lowered when the numbers are dwindled.
oh... and Im pretty sure the fact that a woman likes pool or better yet plays pool, does make her a lot more attractive in the eyes of most men on this forum.
take a Yetti -8, stick a southwest or searing in her hand and see what happens
LMAO
ROFL .. This message is too short?

Definately true.

I've also been many many places though, and i've seen the same sh*t. Ugly biker chicks who don't take care of themselves make up the majority of the female players.

It's nice that you have a lucky spot. Unfortunately, from what i've been around and seen, you are in the lucky 1%.

Where in the heck do you play pool? I rarely see any biker chicks playing pool, let alone ugly ones, lol.

Most recreational players are teens or just over the drinking age, and the serious women I regularly have played with range in looks, just as in everything else (income, personality, etc.) - from downright drop dead gorgeous to not so much. I enjoy conversing with everyone on the same level and give each of them my respect and full attention.

The full beauty of a package is not revealed until you open it.

And that also goes for skill. Some beautiful people have not had to work that hard to get where they are, so they slough off on practice or discipline. The same can be said of their personalities (not generalizing here) where they have not had to contribute much to a conversation to get noticed.

Just my 2 cents, FWIW.

it sounds like he's another one of those guys that only thinks pool tables when he's in a bar.

"the full beauty of a package is not revealed until you open it" i like the way that sounds. of course it does almost make it sound like you'd have to undress the woman to really appreciate her......

alright i still don't see a picture of this chick. did you guys just click on the link and get taken straight to it or is there more clicking after that?

You don't know me, so I wouldn't generalize if I was you.

The majority of the places i've shot at have been bars, but not competitively. APA, tourneys etc. are shot at corner pocket billiards, DJ's and other places within my range.

I'm sorry, i'm not seeing this beauty you speak of. Looks or skills for that matter. I live in florida too for that matter.

Well friend, I hope I run across it.

It sounds like some people are playing pool for the wrong reasons if they're just out to stare at pretty girls. When I'm playing pool, I'm concentrating on pool, not the "scenery".

If that's the impression given by that photo, it isn't who Zarah is. She's the first to admit that her pool game isn't of professional caliber, but she was already dedicated to it before she got any attention and will still be dedicated to it after the fickle eye of internet pool attention passes on.

She's about as grounded and deserving a person as you'll meet, and, personally, I hope she milks it for all it's worth.

I'm with you Patrick. For anyone that loves pool, this is an opportunity that would be impossible to turn down. And anyone that knows Zarah knows that she loves pool. I have a hard time believing any genuine pool lover would pass down that opportunity.

And for the amount of effort that she puts into her game, I am sure it is only a matter of time before she is of a professional caliber.

Hi Deb. Didn't know you lurked around in here.

I had dinner with Zarah last night - she just returned from Korea and the Philippines. She says that even though she didn't do as well as she would have liked in the tournaments she's encouraged by the experience. Oh, and Charlie has not even flirted with her - he's too intent on cracking the whip as her coach.

Zarah is well aware of how she fits into Charlie's business plan, and simply intends to make the most of the opportunity to pursue her passion for pool. She's genuinely as sweet as she seems (just like you!), but she's also a smart, practical woman who can take care of herself. If she manages to stay on the pool scene, pool will be the better for it.

Go get 'em, Z!
