Recently purchased a book by Luther Lassiter "The Modern Guide to Pocket Billiards" Hardcover (c) 1965. Book is in good condition although the dust jacket has seen better days. Is this worth anything?

IF you want to sell it, it's worth whatever someone else will pay. Good find, if you got it for, say, less than $20.

Edit: Condition of the jacket would have a big impact on resale value. Been in the book business, on a small scale, for over thirty years.

There were two printings (1964/1965) of that book in slightly different sizes. (I think the covers were orange and blue.) The prices I've seen on eBay have ranged from $6 to $30 except that an autographed copy went for $180.

You can check prices for out-of-print books at http://used.addall.com which looks at a bunch of different sellers. The prices there range from $5 to $27 for that book.

You can typically find a number of copies online:

I think I got my copy of the 1964 edition, brown hardcover, for about $12 at either Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

An autographed copy would certainly be worth more.

I have a good copy of this book, and I'm glad it is in my collection.

I'll check the date and put up some pics in the AM

wow, i didnt kno he wrote one!
id love to buy a copy. id luv to watch a match with him if there was a tape
Actually, he wrote two. One is the small-format book described above. The other is a large-format paperback with lots of pictures of what looks like multi-flash photography. The larger one is "Billiards for Everyone." (More precisely, he was the co-author on two. George Sullivan was the other author on both.)
