Tikkler Cue - Part 1 of 2

Here's the first of two cues I've been inlaying for the past several weeks. The second one is in the spray booth and will hopefully be done by tomorrow, but I'm cutting it close. I still have to finish shafts and Joint Protectors.

This is the cue that Tikkler got from me last year that most of you have already seen. Every inlay in the cue has been replaced as well as the rings. The second cue is almost the same, except it has some Abalone in some places and it has my other rings. Both cues have approximately 400 inlays. Most of the work was done with a .015" and a .010" cutter.

I will have this cue with me tomorrow at the Meet and Greet in CT and hopefully the other one as well. One of the two cues may possibly be available.

They were all replaced because they were not good when I originally built the cue. I was building a new cue to replace it, so decided to repair the couple of inlays and rings that needed fixing. After getting started, I decided they all needed replacing.

Nice job! Looks awesome. And there are some new inlays in here, aren't there?? Or were there always diamond inlays under the fleur de lis?

Beautiful cue either way.

There weren't Fleur De Lis's in the points before. There also weren't Diamonds below the upper Fleur De Lis's. Before, there was one of those silver fish tail looking things (like in the Butt). Those were the hardest inlays I put in the cue. I wanted to not use them anywhere, but I was kind of stuck coming up with a new design for the boxes in the butt, so I used them anyway.

I originally wanted to use Fleur De Lis in the points on the first cue, but I didn't think I could make them small enough. They are roughly .300" tall in the points.

On the new design, I was going to boarder all of the diamonds with .004" silver. I spent about 5 hours and made 30 pieces. Of those 30, only 1/2 were usable and I would have needed 24 per cue, so I put those aside for later use.
 
Tony...the cue looks amazing! I am flabbergasted that you replaced ALL of the inlays...that is a TON of work....but the cue looks flawless now. Way fancier than anything I would play with, or likely even own...but simply stunning! Kudos to you for wanting to put a superior product out there.

I've got a cue in the works in Tony's shop, folks. How happy am I about this kind of commitment to excellence?
 
Beautiful work. I can't imagine you had any fun re-indexing that one to cue replacement inlays over the old ones. Nicely done.

Thanks. The re-indexing wasn't so bad. Not as bad as I anticipated anyway. I did leave the silver boxes in place, so that made it a little easier. On other cues I've redone, I've completely cut the butt sleeve off and re-did it, but an Ivory Butt Cap is pricey, so I decided to first try it with leaving it intact. I did cut off and replace the Ivory Joint and the top ring.

Thanks. As for the other cue, the finish wasn't where I wanted it to be when I went to spray again tonight, but hopefully it will be where I need it in the morning. In my opinion, the other cue blows this one away, even though the design is almost identical.

Both of these cues and their design work are awesome! I have two of your cues, especially a brazilian rosewood beauty, and I have turning others on to your fine craftsmanship, and playability.
