In 2005 went there with my teams,a couple of cues got lost that had airline insurance(Southwest) & never got anything out of it.Is there a fool proof way of taking your cue since I'm going agian.

i know a guy that went down to vegas and they allowed him to take his cue on the plane with him............ dunno how that came about

I took a 2x4 empty case on a plane once but never a cue. One time I watched out the window as the bags were going up the ramp into the plane and I could see my case come out and get about half way up and fell off. They picked it up and heaved it right back on....oh well, the homeowners insurance would have covered it.

Last time i went i put my cue in a soft case and shoved it in my suitcase. At the time i did not use a break cue.

I have my cue in a hard case that is just long enough for the cue, It then fits diagonally in my suitecase. Traveled across usa with it and flew to NZ. I will be using it again in Aug to go to Vegas.

Don't count on the airline!!!

Ship it to yourself (or hotel), next day air, insured. FED EX not USPS!

I won a cue in a raffle and it was shipped USPS, insured. It arrived and the box was bent in half. I knew before even opening the box that the cue was broken. After 6 months of bullshit and them trying not to pay me I just got my check yesterday. I will never use USPS again.

Thats what I did, just put my hard case inside my suitcase!

My team chipped in and purchased a hard traveling case for golf clubs that's lockable. The team put their complete cases inside and ran it through baggage claim. It worked out perfectly.

I read that Ralf Souquet does the same thing. He puts a cue case diagonally in a suit case large enough to hold the cue case and puts clothes around the cue case. It must work OK since he flies back and forth from Europe with high end JOSS cues.

I've had my luggage lost and damaged by airlines and I wouldn't want to let my cue case go in with regular luggage.

I've put mine in a rather large suitcase w/ a soft case... But I bought some 4" plastic pipe & end caps, wrapped my cues in towels, then put them in the pipe. Then the soft case goes in the suitcase folded or whatever.
Not much can help if your luggage is lost...

Here is a definate 2nd to FED EX INSURED!! A bit more expensive but well worth not having to worry about what UPS might do to it.

And here is a third...though I am definite.;):D

Packing it into a suitcase is risky, especiall in a non-metal case. Those handlers are not graceful about their business.
