Sorry for hijacking your thread but may I ask what camera / settings did you use for this shot? I really like it, this turned out very nice.

Overall it's a super nice cue and good luck for trading for a PFD!

Probably macro mode, which is for close-ups. Some cameras use a magnifying glass or a flower as an icon for this mode if it has one. Put the camera 4"-6" from the subject when using.

Hello Mr H,

I hope all is well! I know about macro mode, I (almost) always use it when taking pictures of cues, but I was curious this time if the picture was taken with a bridge or a DSLR camera and if the latter is the situation then what kind of a lens has been used. What has me interested is the great difference in between the background and the sharp area - it makes me think that a very low aperture setting has been used, somewhere around 2.8 or even lower.

WOW, waaay off topic, good luck with your search :)

Thank you and no worries on the thread jack. It keeps it at the top right!

The shot was taken with my Nikon D80 with a Nikkor AF-S 18-135mm lens. ISO set at 1000 @ F5

I hope that helps. I do a lot of this kind of work but usually it's not on cues.

Well, apparently I could catch the smell of this kind of equipment - that shot really is beautiful. It is easy to see the expertise.

Thanks for the answer and the detailed setup.

BUMP :)

Thanks David.

I'm not sure about my expertise, I just get lucky sometimes. :p

Bump to the top. I've had a few offers but nothing that makes me want to pull the trigger just yet.

Anyone have a PFD for trade???

Check ebay. It is a steal.
Nick :)

Nick,

I'm not sure I understand what you are suggesting. I looked on Ebay and there aren't any PFD's listed.

Duc had a Titlist listed for a while but it's been sold.

I had a dealer offer me another PFD Titlist conversion but I'm looking for something a little different as I already own an Ebony Titlist conversion from Paul.

Bump. Good luck finding a PFD.

The Nikon 60mm macro lens is also excellent for this sort of work, especially if you have a tripod and a remote.

I understand that the 105mm Micro is a great lens as well, though I don't have one.

PFD = Quality/Playability

I hear what your saying about some other cue makers and how you prefer to carry Pauls' work in your bag. I'm currently having a cue made for me by Paul and he has been a true professional to deal with in every sense of the word! Now if we can just get someone on this thread that has a PFD for trade....:D Bump for a guy in need

Thanks man.

Chuckles has a Davis blank PFD that I am trying to work a deal out for. I believe they both sold for around the same money so I feel it's a fair deal for both of us.

If anyone feels any different then please feel free to chime in. I could be wrong here. :p
