Who is Stephen Cohen? I would like to know more about this player! :smile:
 
Stephan is the current European 9-ball Champion, has run 200+ numerous times in 14-1, with his two highest run being 295 and 344.

His name is spelled Stephan Cohen.

Thanks. I found him okay. There's not much about him on a Google search. I guess he must have found a little lightning in the jug! :thumbup:
 
he also was the camera man for kozoom in may in vegas for the 10-ball event. didn´t know that he plays such good straight pool though.... archer surely will have his hands full then...

There are quite a few great players in Europe, who choose to not play competative pool on a regulary basis, just like in the US.

I had for example not heard about Dennis Hatch before the beginning of this year, and he is probably one of the best American players out there.

There are just too many top players around the world, it's a full-time job to keep updated...

I guess you had never heard of for example Klaus Zobrekis from Germany either, or how about Marco Tschudi who did well on some tournaments in US last month? I would gladly bet on Klaus getting to final 8 in this event, if he would still play tournaments. He quit many years ago, and is now a cloth-producer, selling the Z9 billiard cloth. Klaus has a high run of 357 in 14-1, if I am not mistaken, and I think he is 2 times European Champion.

Now, think of all the unknown players in Asia, especially Philippines and Taiwan.

It's a scary thought, isn't? lol

I am glad that I wasn't blessed with a talent in pool, and instead has a good job and nice income instead of being on the road and tournament trail trying to break even because I had the talent to be one of the best :D

Yeah, I forgot about Cohen being in the field when I asked for that Eckert guy... Glad I remembered when doing the second bet in that thread :D

I'm pulling for a final with Cohen and Ortmann, with Ortmann winning with a 200 and out ;)
 
I LOVE seeing Johnny go deep in a Straight Pool tourney. Everyone always thinks of him as strictly a 9-Ball or Ten Ball player. Johnny can play all games, even One Pocket if he has too.

Jam: Danny D told me he met Stephan when he and Mizerak were doing some sort of exhibition in France many years ago. He gave Stephan some lessons and later Stephan visited him in Florida and got some more lessons.

I played him in the World's and he, of course won the lag. I made a safe and he tried a shot that didn't go in but the cue ball was froze to the side of the rack. I tried to cut an open ball in and missed and he ran 52 and left a hanger with a 3 or 4 ball stop shot end pattern for me. I was shaking a little but managed to knock down a 35 ball run before turning the table back over to him. He plays pretty good and Danny D said before the tournament started that he could take it down. He ran a 97 and out the first day.
