....recently they showed him on TV playing in some small limit poker game....
Are you serious? All you talk about is how much you will bet on this or that, you even answered this thread saying i'll take 5-3 and the pop.
Specifically in the Bucktooth threads you talked about how much you have bet and how much you would bet.
big gamblers bet millions, i have friends who are-bigger than Archie ever dreamed of being. I'm not like that. the Tooth bet was to flip for $50,000-an even bet, at that time in my life that was 2 days income. Now do you consider flipping a coin for 2 days work a big gambler? You just dont understand me or know me-yet judge me, now thats a gamble.
Carrying around a bag with $90k or so to the DCC seems to contradict the "i never claimed to be a big gamber" statement. But I, and many other people in the pool world, know you don't like to gamble. My post was nothing more than sarcasm.nope not me, i never claimed to be a big gambler. i live in vegas and never gamble. wrong again.I thought Fatboy was "The World's Greatest Gambler".
You need to re-read Jay's quote below. I think you missed the point again, as usual.big gamblers bet millions, i have friends who are-bigger than Archie ever dreamed of being.
The difference is Archie started with a few thou and ran it into many millions in a short period of time. And he was willing to bet everything day after day. There are guys (like Kerry Packer, Andy Beal and Rosey) who bet millions, but they are billionaires. Archie has more gamble than just about anyone anywhere.
Last I heard, he was President of the Bellagio. The biggest games in the Bellagio are in "Bobby's Room," named after Bobby Baldwin. They play 2,000-4,000 Limit games there every day, sometimes 4,000-8,000 H.O.S.E. gets put down as well.

WOW within the first 20 words you managed to inform us all about your friends who are bigger than archie ever dreamed of being.
I think maybe it's your arm that is hurting, not your back. Well maybe your back too from your arm always patting yourself on the back.
Rattle off some of those "friends" PLURAL who are bigger than Archie ever dreamed of being. Don't come back with the usual don't want to name names, give us some insight into your world of living larger than the world.
i think betting like Archie etc is stupid, they all end up broke

Of course it's stupid. Anytime you are gambling it is stupid. Vegas exists because of stupidity.
I have always said that in any one transaction (refering to pool or any gambling situation) only one person is gambling. The trick is to know if it is you or the other guy. Vegas does not gamble. They are conducting business. There is risk, but there is risk in everything. As long as you have an edge and the appropriate amount of barrels to shoot, you will win.
As far as who is the biggest gambler, it isn't about the size of the bet, but the importance of the bet. $50,000 maybe a 2 day wage for you Fatboy, but to the Joe on the street that makes $30,000 a year that is one hell of a bet. Archie's story is just about that. He had nothing and was willing to bet it all.
We all talk about the next big pool movie, well folks, if someone was to do one on Archie we would see pool bloom again. At least for a little while.
Archie had some balls.
Still does Jason. Archie stays in action. He regularly makes six figure scores and has had his hand on seven figures in cash several times since his big score. But the way he gambles, putting everything in play, he can drop a half mil in one day.
He beat me and John Schmidt out of three thou a year or so ago. John tried to beat the twelve ball ghost. Archie had nearly 10,000 bet on it, three thou with us. This is an average bet for Archie. He doesn't want to play for hundreds, it must be thousands and up.
I played him for 500 a game once and he lost. When he came back he told me, "No more nitting around, bet a thousand a game!" Then he beat me for six thousand! :frown:
The biggest gamblers are not in Vegas or Atlantic city or any other casino in the world.
Correct. The biggest gamblers are playing in the NYSE.
Eric

Ok, thanks for that.
Now, how about those names of the friends of yours.
BTW betting 50k or 100k on a coin flip or Keno is smart right?
