Mosconi Cup, can the US make a comback

It's easy enough to guess who the members of the Europe Moconi team will be, in short a powerhouse that can unleash some serious speed in single and team formats.

Mosconi events in the past had locked-up players from the US side and a few spots open every year for top US performers (Rodney, Earl, Johny I think???). After the last few Mosconi cups we all know that this formula will most likely prove disatrous fror the US if repeated.

What would be the best possible solution if all 5 USA players were not lock-in spots but based only on last 12 months or most recent performance results?

Here what is a good assumption of the European team (monster) roster

Ralf, Neils, Darren, *Mika, *Hohmann - who in USA could match each one's speed? You have 5 world champion and (contenders to future WC) in 4 discipline. Crazy scary. Do you have to give some Philipino's US citizenship to win?:wink:

US can win if they send the best players not who draws a crowd or has the best connections. Johnnyt

Corey is in the lead on BCA points, with Oscar second. I don't know how they tabulate points, but on this link here's the current standings before the US OPen - which is the last tourney to get points.

For the first time that I have seen, they added a category called "worst finish" which subtracted points from their total! Oscar lost the points lead to Corey because of this subtraction!

The points total is the last # on each of the following lines, and the "subtractor" is the 2nd to last. Maybe a BCA website has more info on how points are calculated/awarded - anyone know? Mark?

Someone get Dennis and Busta a damn green card for the event. Why can't we play the UK or some single nation...we'd win those types of matches, the Filipinos would beat us but thats it. It's just hard to have a country beat a continent these days, especially when those guys are world beaters. Not making an excuse, I just think the days of the USA is the best are way over.

If the winner of the US Open is an American, typically he will get an invite.

As I have witnessed in the past, this event is all about energy!

The strongest US Team will be a Team that has unyielding amounts of positive energy!

That's what got the Euros there before with Drago. He, the weakest on the team IMO, stirred them all up with a strong rally and lots, and lots of energy!!!

The US Team are too docile.

Energy-wise: Rodney and Earl are great, but the other guys need to kick it up a notch - IMO.

Aren't all of the matches between players a race to 5?

A bonded, cohesive U.S. Mosconi Cup Team with a positive attitude toward each other and an ever-present desire to acheive the ultimate goal of winning the Mosconi Cup is what will determine if they have a chance to take the Mosconi Cup back.

A race to 5 is exciting, no doubt but it would be nice to see a longer race imo. However a race to 5 is better suited for television and the drama a short race provdies and that's all right too.
