This is the first and only time I've ever given red rep.

It's people like you who are ruining the industry, smiling and laughing as it goes down the drain. Producers of pool content work HARD to do what they do. I know that TAR does especially, as they have bills to pay, and kids to feed.

My movies cost me over $12k out of my own pocket, EACH. You think I get that back by giving them away? I scrape by, still owe money from school, and yet I work a zillion hours a week. All because of people like you.

I've used these sites to source stuff you can't get thru accu-stats such as San Miguel Asian Opens (only on TV in Asia/Europe I suppose), the World Pool League (only on TV in Asia/Europe I suppose), old 14.1 championships (ProPoolVideo.com is gone now), and ESPN US & Europe matches (some dating back to the mid-80's...seen Buddy versus Bobby Hunter lately? How about Hsia versus Yang?).

Yes, accu-stats' material can be abused, but there's more out there than accu-stats' material. In fact, accu-stats represents a small portion of the material out there that everyone else around the world gets to see.

I buy TAR products, you're trying to cover yourself under a blanket of everything pool, and that's wrong.

You also have no idea what I'm looking for, but you damn the whole torrent society. People have already made great points on here, there is stuff on there you can't buy on tape.

Sorry I can't feel for you that your movies cost 12k each and that you're trying to pay off school. If it's not profitable then here's an idea, stop doing it.

I already asked in 2 forums for what I was looking for and no one has it, I have bought the tapes it could have been on and it isn't, hmm sounds like I've already contributed and have downloaded nothing. Just looked.

1) I do work outside of the billiard industry. It's what keeps me alive.

2) Are you telling me to quit my passion because it's not profitable? As long as I can survive doing it, I will. It would simply be a lot nicer if more pool players would support the industry, rather than taking advantage of it.

3) 244 files in that torrent, and you're telling me that *not a single one* is copyrighted? I find that hard to believe.

4) I didnt red-rep you for the torrent thing. I did it for that smart a** comment you made at the end of the previous message. It showed a complete lack of respect for anyone who works hard in our industry.
 
What's this billiards torrent thing?

I'm old and techno ignorant. Is this something to allow me to steal stuff of great value? Or does it have other redeeming qualities. Will my computer get a disease if I go there?

Always looking for free billiard stuff-but not interested in stealing it-usually.

Can you savy folks educate us uninformed about this 'torrent' thing?

You're the one complaining about how it's not profitable.

So he offered you a suggestion.

If it's a passion that you would continue to do as long as you can survive doing it, then profit shouldn't be your main concern.

If you're doing it for the love of the game, then don't get frustrated over profit.

If you're doing it for profit, you're in the wrong business.

Great attitude there. It will serve you well in life.

I like how this got turned around from jacking other people's work to "You are in the wrong business".

There people who never buy anything and download everything, people who will never download anything and buy all their media and people who do both. When the first group is the majority it is going to be very boring.

You quoted me, and then proceeded to respond as if you had never even read what I said.

Just because someone does something out of passion, doesn't mean they deserve to starve over it. As I *clearly* stated already, I don't do this for the money. HOWEVER, it would be nice to be compensated for my efforts, rather than having a few inconsiderate members of the pool community show their appreciation by stealing from me.

All other producers of billiard content face this same problem (far greater than I do, as I'm as small-time as they get). They too deserve the support and respect that they work so hard for.

And people wonder why pool goes no place. They blame the players, the promoters, ESPN, the tours, the BCA, and on and on and on. But when it comes to them spending money on anything pool related that they can't show off (like a cue or case) forget it. This site is drawing more and more 3 ball running cheap-ass thieving nits every week. Johnnyt
 
Glad there are so many open minded people who give the benefit of the doubt. I mean everyone who goes to torrents are criminals right? There couldn't possibly be content NOT copyrighted on there.

I now hereby demand everyone from this thread surrender themselves to the law because nathandumoulin thinks it's people like me (and you) who ruin this game.

It's not people dumping their backers, it's not Earl going off on fans, it's not ustream, it's not the image of pool players not even dressing appropriately for pool, it's me and you. We've single handily ruined pool.

I find that morality and pool skills are inversely related. The better the player, the more shady the character.

Oh cmon, everyone who knows anything about torrents knows that if there is anything on there that is not copyrighted, hell thats not what people want.

To say your torrenting because your looking for "public domain" or "open source" or some other excuse is just BS. Most of the regular internet people pirate stuff. But at least dont be a wuss about it and try to make it out like your only doing legal torrents. ha! Pulease
