Hi, I have a 7' Diamond pro am bought new by me and delivered and installed by Diamond themselves . I posted a few months ago aking for help and got a few responces, I tried them all and still have those Damn black marks on the balls after every game and I can't seem to get rid of them, The table is less than 2 yrs old. Myself and my Gf are the only ones who play on it. I've tried the shoe polish trick to no avail. Does any one else have any Ideas, I hav emailed Diamond a couple of times and have not heard back from them yet. Thanks in Advance, TODD

Do the cues have black marks as well?

If not then you could line the pocket with felt and hold it up with velcro or two sided tape.

Same thing here... Not sure it's the pockets though. Thinking maybe in the ball return???

I personally have recently ordered a set of new pockets from Diamond and the rep that I placed my order with encouraged me to order the brown ones instead of black for that very reason. I think he mentioned that the dye to color the pockets is what causes that issue.I ordered the brown, have not installed them yet,but will post something if I notice any problem with the brown.

Damn Black marks.

It leaves black marks wether you blast the balls or not. Sure would have been nice if they would tell ya that when you place the order, It took me almost 7 months and two tops to finally get mine done and it still is leaving the marks. If they know its doing it can't they fix it? I mean its not a $1000 table were talking about here. I had an olhausen before this one and never had any problems with the black pockets on that one.

Perhaps you should talk to someone in your hometown that works with leather and see what they recommend to seal it. I doubt shoe polish will last after being hit with balls repeatedly.

Black marks.

Thanks Majic, Thats a good Idea, I got the Shoe polish idea from someone on hear, I put it on there but haven't been able to play due to a back surgery and now I'm getting back down there and its bothereing me again.

what do you mean it took 7 months a two tops? i am looking at buying a 7ft here in the next couple of months, but if its goning to be a pain i might have to rethink this.

If you're set on buying a 7ft table, there is no better built table on the market in the 7ft size than a Diamond. Black marks on the balls are not uncommon when dyed leather pockets are used...on any kind of table. Shoe polish or saddle soap helps prevent the dye from transferring to the ballls...but some owners just don't understand that when you fire the balls in the pockets harder than normal...thinking "that's how you play pool"...then that's just not what the pockets were designed for...and sometimes marks are going to show up, they wipe off easily. Diamond has thousands of 7ft tables out here, but only a few complain here...why is that? I deal with thousands of Diamond tables on a regular basis, a LOT more than ANY home owner does...and I fail to see the problem...and I DO own a few Diamonds myself:wink: I don't know, maybe if you ask Diamond, they'll install plastic pockets that rub off on your cue shaft in place of the leather ones they currently use:mad:

Some people just have to complain, as far as changing out 2 sets of rails because of the pockets....bullshit:wink:

What's the real reason you had 2 different tops on your table? Did it come with league cut pocket openings and you had Diamond switch the rails for pro cut pockets?....because there's no way Diamond would just switch out the rails because of the pockets...I'm calling bullshit on that statement...and I can ask Diamond tomorow about your table and the switching of the rails twice...no problem as I'm at the factory now:wink:

Diamond table

I did not start this thread to bash on Diamond tables, I love my Daimond. I was asking a question about how to get rid of the black marks from getting all over the balls, I am not some 25 yr old bannger that slams everyshot and gets ball marks, I have gotten 3 pm's from guys on here about the marks also, I appoligize if I offended anyone, I got a little frustrated when I asked a question and was told it was because I slammed balls into the pockets when that is not the case. I just want to be able to play with out having to clean the balls all the time. I would be more than happy to discuse my table buying experiance with you if you would like to talk about it in person, I did not start this to start a conflict, Just wanted to fix my problem. RKC I will sent you a pm with my Phone # and info if you would like to discuss anything further. If anyone else would like to discuss this please feel free to pm me also. Just to clarify, I sold a less than 2yr old Olhausen to buy my Diamond and love the table!

When I asked a simple question on here to see if anyone knew how to stop the black marks from getting on the balls I wasn't complaining I was asking if anyone new how to correct this? A question is all it was. You act like I came on here bashing the table. I thought the Idea of ask a table mechanic was to ask questions of people that know alot more about tables tan I? Thats what I was trying to do not piss anyone off. I didn't say that I had 2 tops because of the pockets ther was much more to it which I would be happy to discuss with you.It takes me 20 min to type out this little bit so I will stop now. Once again, I love my Diamond table and highly recomend there tables!

... still have those Damn black marks on the balls after every game ...

Hi, Todd. Here's what I do for the same problem:

- Take a rag and put some mink oil on it. (Mink oil comes in a metal tin, like shoe polish, and is available at shoe repair shops and at some shoe stores.)

- Wipe the inside of each pocket with the mink-oiled rag.

- Take a clean rag and wipe each pocket again, removing any excess mink oil and buffing it into the leather.

The mink oil forms a thin, clear barrier between the dyed leather and the balls, thereby preventing the dark marks on the balls. This "solution" seems to last for many weeks, but eventually has to be redone. Fortunately, it takes only a couple of minutes to do.

Black marks

I just got off the Phone with Paul @ Diamond. First of let me say what a great guy we talked for over 1/2 hour, I didn't get the just let me answer your Question and get rid of ya. He gave me a little background info on the company and what they stand for. He says that they are working very hard at coming up with a solution to the problem, One Idea they have come up with that he Thinks was RKC's Idea was to use a high grade shoe polish and then use a Saddle soap as a sealer . It is a temperary fix but It helps, He also recomended a clear hand sanitizer for getting the marks off with more ease. He said that They are trying different suppliers and manufacturers to get rid of these problems. He mentioned that he would Try and post on here if they come up with any other solutions or remedy's. I was regretting making this call as I thought it was going to be a we have your money why the hell are you bothering us in todays society where customer service sucks, Especially after the sale. It was nothing of the sorts, Very Nice guy, Great customer service. A+

Dirty Dawg, I am in the process of buyin a pro am and i have talked to Paul and Glen both. Both are good guys and have treated me the way a customer should be treated. i am glad that I am buying american products and to show my apprectiation to diamond I will be paying exactly when expected all in full!!!

Amen Brother

Both Diamond and RKC are first rate all the way. They are truly passionate about what they do and it shows in their product and customer service. I had a problem a while back with a brunswick table (had bought it from Triangle Billiards) and Glen went WAY beyond what he probably should have in rectifying the problem. I love my pro-am and cannot recommend more hightly Diamond Billiards products and Glen Hancock. You can go to the bank with both of them!

Chris
