Weight forward cues?

I am shopping for a cue that has a feel like the Schon my instructor uses daily as a shooter.:grin-square:

Weight++===----++-----tt- forward in the forearm area
completely different stroke than the Meucci, or the Joss I have.

The stick almost does the work of the shot --just aim and gently pull the trigger--??

Are there any other makes of cue that are balanced at the 19-19.5 " balance point?

Thanks,
I am new to this site lots of information to an old dog that wants to play again.

Perseverance . . A right . . .or a responsibility . .?

Thanks-JLD

JLD -
I appreciate it.
Very much --I will mention your name with an order I can't really afford a Schon (new) - and really don't get how the raffle deal works.

My teach shoots with a 1of 4 Schon 1989 ebony and ??
He told me he was given the cue by the Schon rep at a tourney in Tulsa.

I shot a couple with it and fell i love :grin-square:

I have been away from it for 25 + yrs --
needless to say I am needing all the help I can get.

Again Thank you for the info
Chris

Glad I could be of help. Dale makes great cues and if you like weight forward you should be well pleased with any cue you get from him. Like your instructor though I use a Schon custom that I acquired in 1984 and have never found another cue that I like better.

Long as you love the game it doesn't matter how long you've been away from it. As for the help you can find plenty of it here.

Compare 84'-89"Schon to a D. Teague?

J L D ,

In comparison for the money , how similar to a Schon ,is a Teague in your opinion.

the green isn't that good.
Do all Schons play like that?

I have several cues to sell (lessor quality ) to raise $$$$ for the Schon.
These were purchased for resale mostly to finance a cue -- Greenshortage!

: Maybe you could help me with a raffle, I have a PAyPal account and have heard "Do not use the term raffle"
Is photo+upload+fairprice+quick shipping = a raffle?

I have four McDermott, 2 new, 2 Brazil 1-leather wrap, 1 breaker phenolic ferrule and tip,and a d-2 w/ new tip
the cues are in 95-99-100%.
A 97-4 Joss, and a couple of heavily inlayed 100+ MOP, abalone, exotic wood, capiz shell, and lizard ---really nice to look at.
Most of the items are ebay acquired, except for the Brunswick made by Joss.
I do appreciate the email and info -

Thanks,
Chris

Chris...Almost any cuemaker can weight a cue just about any way you want. I'd search out cuemakers around your area, and ask them about making you a forward balanced custom cue.

Great cuemakers in Oklahoma are the Prathers in Mooreland, Jim Ingram in OKC, Petree in the Tulsa area (which posts here) Steve Kornel of Mooreland also and I've seen some cues from a guy in Mustang named Sean Huckleberry lately and he is pretty new to cuemaking but the couple I hit with were great cues.

Okie cue makers

. Don't forget Kent Taylor (AAA Billiards, Okc.) Sean's cues are called Hucks. I saw one of Hucks the other night and hit a few balls. Played pretty good. Nothing extraordinary, but nothing I could say was negative. First cue of Hucks I have seen with points and the guy said some of cue was Prather parts and I guess thats okay. Sean is good guy and will do you right. New guy, give him a chance, I would.

If you can't afford a high end production cue, you are probably going to have a problem affording a custom made cue. Maybe you can pick one up used?

Our very own Lee from Brianna made me a 20oz sneaky balanced at 20". I personally like weight forward in a break cue, but not so much in a shooter. In a shooter, it increaces weight on the bridge hand too much, IMO.

My Scruggs balance point is also forward and I love it. I would try to sell your other cues then watch the swap sell board like a hawk for a cue. In a lot of the descriptions they will tell you the balance point, if not you can always PM them and ask where it balances.

Don't be in a hurry, take your time and you should be able to find it.
Good luck.

I'm pretty sure that my first Schmelke was forward weighted - or at least that's what the guy at the store said. It hit pretty solid (I still miss that cue) and had a cool brass joint that I could kneecap my friends with. :D

All of the cues I own are all balanced between 19.5 and 20.5 inches. I like to hold the cue loose and close to the balance point, as that is most comfortable to me. A heavier shaft (4+ ounces) will also work to move the balance point forward.
