Alright ladies, we're set for day 3!!
The Mosconi Cup is without doubt THE tournament of the year, for the players and fans. Win or lose, this is the only event that brings out so much passion, heart and joy. Just ask any player that has ever played in one of the Mosconi events, and they will all tell you that this is the best event there is. It adds so much pressure and tension, and there's not one player that isn't nervous during that event. (Of course, I don't care about the event this year, if we lose)
One player described it the best to me when he said that walking into the arena is like facing a wall of emotions. Ask Dennis Hatch how he feels about the Mosconi? Or perhaps John Schmidt will tell you what it is like. Oscar Dominguez said this on his facebook:
Day 2: USA 7 Europe 2. We are really playing well together. Gotta keep on going. Its race to 11. USA USA USA! lol, this event is the greatest thing I've ever been involved in. Such emotion and pressure. Its awesome having everyone being involved on EVERY shot with millions across the world watching. Tomorrow is a new day and we are focused on keeping the momentum. Wish us luck... Thanks to everyone once again
Well, it's a new day today.
We, Team Europe, have almost been beaten to death the last 2 days, but I think no one will say that Europe has had the best of the rolls so far. 2 balls that rolled different, and the score could have been 5-4.
I believe it is about to change, and I predict a strong, super-focused and determined Team Europe in the arena today. Today is do or die!
It is no more pressure on Team Europe's shoulders. No one expect Team Europe to win from here, USA have already won this event, in the viewers eyes. It's USA who have everything to lose now, and they know it.
The only question is, will they handle the pressure better than what Team Europe did on day 1 and day 2?
I'm ready! Bring it on! Let us see the American's fall apart, crying, shaking heads in disbelief! Please, bring me some joy!!!
I think I can finally see the light in the tunnel. (But with my luck it is probably just the huge front of a high-speed train speeding towards me with a smiling Hatch as the locomotive driver)

You know, I haven't really had many conversations with Dennis Hatch. He lives up in the northeast and he never made it to my booth when I was at the Super Billiard Expo last year. I did watch him play and did commentary on one of his matches there but I really don't know that much about him except from what I have read and what my friends from the northeast have had to say about him.
The statements that Dennis has been making and the emotions that he is displaying during the Mosconi Cup have moved me.
The following is an excerpt of some of the things he has said:
"This means more than anything in the world. The pressure is unbelievable, you're nervous, emotional and you have to hold the tears back.
This is about playing for your country, your brothers and your fans. This is the most amazing thing I've ever done in my life - I love it."
Hatch broke down in tears mid-interview, his second tearful moment of the first two days and his blend of fire and emotion is proving hugely popular with the large American crowd.
Dennis has brought talent, ferocious competitive fire, high emotion and even more importantly a cohesive comradeshipto the U.S. Mosconi Cup Team that they have never had before and even though there is much more pool to be played, I think that he is currently the most deserving of MVP.

Regardless of the outcome I just want to give you some good rep for being such a great sport. You give us American's quite a bit of ribbing but I commend you for equally taking it and not being thin skinned when the shoe drops.

They haven't played that bad and its obvious that the Americans got quite a few lucky rolls to go along with their excellent play, but the Europeans were dealt some awful rolls and with a few mistakes that is all it took. It really shows how tough it can be at the top of the food chain in this sport! I think most of us are surprised that the score isn't even close right now. From the start I thought your team had the advantage with the finishes that they have posted this year globally and we were putting in two rookies in mosconi appearances.

Watching Hatch and Oscar in the doubles match was great. Dennis was really working at making sure that Oscar not be too concerned with the position that Dennis would be left with and just do his thing. I think the MVP may be in order.

Roy is definitely one of the coolest cats around. He can dish it out but he can also take it as he knows that it's all in fun. I'm proud to say that he is my best Norwegian friend, lol.
We definitely chose the right man for the job. I'm glad I voted for him. It is nice to see him finally earn some positive reinforcement after all of these years.
It is a shame pool is such a tough sport. I think Dennis Hatch would go over with the majority of the public, similar to how Jeanette Lee has.
I wish him and the rest of the team the best of luck going into today. Time to seal the deal.
Might as well put my two cents into this thread. This may just be hope but this is how I see it.
1. It has been obvious that Europe is much more comfortable with the singles matches than the team/doubles. If Europe can somehow pull out some wins early today I think they will win it all. 3 of the next 4 are doubles and then the last 8 are all singles. Which IMO Europe would hold the advantage.
2. Europe has been victim of some bad rolls... did anyone see the first day where Mika made the 1,2,3 and 5 on the break but had to kick at the 4?? They didn't acknowledge it on the stream because Wych was busy blabbing with the british announcer about something and not paying attention...... There are many more examples but....I guess that is just part of the game.
3. Reversal of moods.....I think europe came into this too cocky. Especially for being in a hostile environment. But I think you will see USA be cocky starting today...which could be there downfall. If europe does start to comeback I honestly can't see the less experienced USA players keeping their composure.
I will say this ...SVB and Archer and both playing at the top of their game. I am very impressed...I would vote Archer for MVP right now based both on his play as well as his constant coaching (doing more than varner from my view anyway).
Anyway these are just my opinions, Dissect them as you will.
