Mosconi Cup: Post up the funny/interesting/embarrassing moments

Jerry Forsyth: "Team Europe couldn't get a good roll from a new tire!"

Day 1, Match 2 (Archer/Hatch vs. Appleton/Feijen):

Jerry Forsyth's comment during rack 5: "Team Europe couldn't get a good roll out of a new tire!"

This cracked me up when he said it!

Hey JAM & KK9L -- what's with the back-and-forth "now you see it, now you don't" posts? I don't remember a player on either the U.S. or Europe teams having the name "Deleted"...

:D

I plead the 5th! Apparently, some things ARE too embarrassing for the interned. ;)

When I was gathering all the cheering toys and gagets for the Mosconi Cup, I asked Holly (CSI's photo shop and signs guru) to make some signs to cheer on the Team USA. I was simply looking for "Go USA" sort of simple picket signs but Holly went all out with each teammate's pictures, nick names and all sort! If you were watching the steam, Holly created all the signs that people were holding to root US on!

So, here is where it gets funny. Holly asks me what Oscar's nick name is and I had to call him for it...

I called Holly back and said he's nickname is...

Oscar "The Big O" Dominguez!

We both busted out laughing simultaneously and wondered where he got that nick name from?

** For the record, I asked Oscar and he said the infamous tournament announcer Scott Smith just started to call him that during his intro and just stuck! What a nickname, LOL.

What reason did they give for asking you to leave?

Well, I was told by the promoters that it was wrong timing...and maybe because it was live and Thorsten was ready to break the rack. During breaks from match, we are encouraged to make all kind of noise, but when the rack is set and ready to roll, it's dead silent before the break. I think that's when I ran out:nono:

However, when it was done and over with they loved it enough to use my clip over and over for the next day's intro, during breaks... I even made the UK news from what I hear, LOL. Something like sports blooper type of thing. They said they all laughed because most people whose featured on that show are naked and striking across the soccer field:grin-square:

It was a great time :happydance:

You could try that one next :grin::grin::grin:

I still think they should have let you stay in the costume to show support for the team

I didnt get to see it, anyone have a pic of Sunny all dressed up?

That lady with her left hand on the rail and the right hand holding camera is Dennis Hatch`s sister.I am not mentioning her name.

I see Justin (JCIN) and Tina (Girlwon). Anybody else?

So sorry. I have you all beat. Even Sunny. First day, I figured that all the AZers would do a toast with me, but none were to be found. After getting in line early and no food for bfast, I did the toast myself. $20 a round for a double! So, here I am on the corner seat as they walked in and it didn't take long before I was wayyyyyyy in the bag. Poor Jay Helfert. I must have hugged him so hard, I believe I could have broken his ribs. Anyway, between all of the "come on boys!" and the Vodka, the head of Matchroom came over and told me in his idiotic british way, "if you don't quiet down, we'll have a problem." Then the MGM staff came over to do the same. Oh well. Not wanting to give up the seat, I capitulated.

Funny enough though. Alex Lely got to say idiotic things like "one and one equals two", pissing off Dhatch. Also, there was this itty bitty guy who must have been connected to the team and he was worse than I was....and SOBER! OMG.

No big deal. The only important thing was that the boys kicked some Euro a$$ and sent that trash back to the Continent without the Cup.

I'll have to say, however, that the Euros do travel well. Great folks to be around. As long as next year isn't a repeat of Malta, I could see a trip there next time out.

Regards all,
tim

This is you, right Tim? In the hat? I noticed you got quiet after awhile. Damn security! lol

I liked on day one when archer/Hatch were playing and Johnny was showing Dennis where he wanted the cue ball and said "I want it right there" (or something to that effect) and Dennis replied with "Right there? You want it right there?" While pointing to the spot and poking a little fun at Johnny.

It made me chuckle a little.

Nothing really embarrassing to share, but would like to put in a big kudo for Sunnyday. All those horns, hats, noisemakers distributed to the US team and supporters were brought by Ms. Sun. She had bag fulls and everyone loved them. It definately added to the atmosphere that is The Mosconi Cup. Without those props don't know if the vibe would have been as funny or boisterous :)

But you made the signs!! They were a big hit! You are awesome for doing all that. You are right - the signs really helped the vibe!
