That whole this was a heist. The money draw was really messed up and misleading. I know a few people that were jacked on that deal. The guy that runs that is a crook. Saw him at the open also. I don't think Ashley Furniture had anything to do with the money draw but it was total bs.Well, I was not sure of when to post it but with Mitchs okay I decided it would be best. Well most of us know Ashley Furniture was giving away furniture items as part of the raffle taking place at Galveston. Mitch won the dining room set valued at $8,000. He has been given nothing but a run around about it and I would like to help him resolve this. If you have a raffle such as this where lots of monies were collected and someone wins, you give them there prize and that is that.
WOULD LIKE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW ASHLEY FURNITURE DID NOT HAVE ANY WRONG DOING IN THIS AT ALL AND HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO SUPPORT POOL AND TOURNAMENTS.
I have not read all the posts, so there may be information I have not read. It seems Ashley furniture thinks the raffle was for $1000 and Mitch thinks it was for $8000. My guess is someone may have said we will give "A" $1000 dining room set. The capital "A" sound was mistaken for an "8" and that is where all the confusion started. Like I said I do not know all the facts, but that is my guess. You could probably get the 7 ball.
I spoke with Mitch a few times about this in the past few weeks. He was given a name/contact from the Galveston Tournament. He was told he won a complete dining set with total value of $8000. I think it was much more than just a table and chairs. It was the big item that they were promoting at the event.
I think after one more call to Ashley I would threaten with reporting to the Better Business Bureau and go that route.
Mitch also got screwed by the Galveston Tournament Directors as well. He was informed that he could play in the Amateur Event along with players like Gene Albrecht so he made arrangements to get to Galveston and play. Once he arrived he was told (along with 7 others) that he would not be allowed in the tournament and had to play at the Pro level.
I hope someone fixes this for him. Mitch is hands down the nicest most sincere kid I have come across in this sport!!

YOu suggested a good price for the furniture would be $3200. You should buy it. The furniture was STORED or did you miss that?
I don't know where the furniture is or who has it but if you are willing to pay $3200 for it, I will make find out if it has been used or stored. If it is stored and you are still willing to pay $3200 for it, I will find out who has it and where and negotiate your purchase and I will personally stand behind the sale.
Yeah, I think you should buy it for the $3200 but minus the $400 for shipping and you can take care of shipping.

I am not sure why you are having a comprehension problem but again I was letting you know that a fair price for something used is 40 cents on the dollar. That would be a starting point for Mitch. Obviously, this was brought to the forum's attention as Mitch wanted help in resolving this. The info I have provided can be used to help resolve, if Mitch wishes.
But I don't want used furniture. Never said I did.
Did you call:

To find out if this the furniture is in his house or 'stored' in his house.
If I or anyone else was to buy the furniture now, how would you standing behind the sale give me any comfort at all???
Also, remind me again since you failed to answer, when did the Great Galveston tournament end? How long has this gone on unresolved for Mitch?
I spoke to Mitch and he called Bobby Rone, Mr. Rone says he has not seen the furniture in 2 months, that someone picked it up. Mitch is getting screwed over on this. Plain and simple when you run a raffle you let the people buying tickets know they are responsible to transport, have to pay taxes and have to be present or not to win, plain and simple pure BS.
I will have more info as it is available to me of where it was picked up from and by who.![]()
The same guy that did that raffle was at the US Open also. I think he's a crook IMO
GO GALVESTON
Good thing I didn't take JoeyA from the internet pool forums suggestion and buy the furniture off of Mitch.
Lenny - Mitch is getting screwed over. He has gotten screwed over. It is obvious that the Galveston promoters don't care and anyone else associated with this event doesn't care either.
I would call the local police in Mr. Rone's area and report a theft and the thief.
Oh gawd, here we go again!
Obviously no one here's at fault, but 2:1 this thing goes another 4-5 pages.:frown:

You hit the nail on the head. Yes Mitch got screwed and it is time to get over it. I got screwed for the promised $ 600 in a local tournament I won about the same time. I would be happy to settle for $ 438 or my percentage of the money collected without the add on. But I will never collect and won't waste my time going after it. I just avoid going to that place and giving him any more of my money. In my case the guy bought an existing business and won't be in it for another 6 months at the rate he is pissing off customers.
There is a Time to forget and realize the lesson you learned and move on. The world is not perfect and to worry about it just shortens your life.
Well at the very least we can find out who benefited from it all since we know who lost in this situation. If it was the guy running the raffle or someone else who sold the furniture we want to get to the bottom of it so we know the whole situation and it does not happen again.
This stuff is not new in pool and pool players are frequently taken advantage of but now we can at least let others know what is going on and who to look out for. I am sure Mitch will not be going to Galveston next year.
I do not believe Ashley has anything to do with it, they gave the furniture to the promoters and it was raffled off, it did not happen at a poolroom either, it happened at a casino.Lenny
It was the Manufacture that reneged on the deal. I agree the pool hall should stand good to Mitch for any money they made on the raffle.
While I have never been there "Q's Bar & Girl" in Port Charlotte Florida has a reputation far and wide for the owner winning every raffle he has. People in Ft Myers tell me his money splits in Tournament are said to be rigged also. So my take is why go to a place that is going to screw you. Same thing with the Bar that screwed me. Only I won't give the name out because my league must play there Twice each session.
