pro players not paid

What year are you refering to? I know Barry had some problems in the past, some of which was out of his control, but I was under the impression that that had been cleared up a few years back. Coming in with a thread like this seems a bit questionable without some supporting evidence or facts that there were 4 unpaid players and from when.
It's a headline on the AZ billiard front page.
BB announced he still owes 4 people and apologized for it.
Plus some changes for the future U.S Opens.

Sadly, it seems like this is a becoming common practice for many promoters so the players aren't as frustrated and suprised when it takes them months to get paid.
I know of a couple that are still missing money from him for this year and this is not the first year this has happened for these particular players. That's just ridiculous.

Just for the record, I completely appreciate Barry for swallowing his pride and coming out with that statement on the front page.

We have started to remit the prizes for the 2009 WTBC, beginning with the lower prizes and the Americas. They will move shortly to the higher prizes and Europe, and then to Asia.
All in all, I am told that all prizes will be paid by January 15. So check with your bank around that time.
In all previous championships (three in all) and international tournaments, prizes have usually been paid after three weeks or a month after the event, except the WTBC last year when there was some delay. This year is a little later because of the long Christmas break. Your inquiry on Dec 10 was early, but they should have answered you immediately. Sorry for that.
Anyway, all good wishes for the New Year.

Here's to hoping everybody gets paid soon and that pool receives the sponsorship it deserves so situations like this don't continue to occur.

YES IT IS!
And pool players are foolish enough to let themselves get walked on repeatedly cause they will take whatever they can get.
Sad state of affairs when pool players have no choice but to sell out and HOPE they get paid at the end of it.
I for 1 think its crap that these players dont get paid on the spot. When they get knock out of the tourny they should get a check right away.
But i will say this in barrys case i might not agree with the players not being paid...I will give you props for having the balls to do what you did and admit your mistake cause your the only 1 to do so.

Were they the top 4 players with the largest checks? Or someone that came in 96th place?
If the tourney does not fill up then you do NOT pay 96 places you pay LESS.

Don't players in 96th place get paid before the top finishers? If they don't get a fullfirld they pay usually 1/4-1/3 of the field but if checks are going to bounce wouldn't it be some of the bigger/latter ones?
I finished in the 65th group and got paid at the event. I would guess it is top 4. I think they had something like this going when Shane won 3 years ago. Didn't he wait like 4-6 months or something?
Top three in US Open were Mika, Ralph and Donny Mills. Donny posts here, and I am sure he could enlighten us if he wanted.
The problem is that players, regardless if its US Open, Makabentas 10ball championships or the IPT, normally are afraid to go public with anything and step on the promoters toes - perhaps gettting them banned from future events.
So they accept whatever payment schedule the promoter comes up with and swallow their pride.
Pool needs a strong players organisation, and commitment from the players. If we had that, then forcing promoters to put the added money in escrow - before the tournament - could be a realistic start..
