I was just looking at all the members that are registered and I wonder why more members do not support AZB and the club membership. When it was first offered I jumped on the club membership. I feel we all have to do our job to support this site. This site is helpful in so many ways. I would like to hear your reason why or why not you choose to get club membership. Thanks
 
Membership

Go up to the top right corner of the User Contol panel and you will see a tab for Quick Links. Click on that.... scroll down and then click on Support AzB. It will take you from there.
 
I just joined. I have not made much money buying and selling cues on here, but the vast amount of knowledge on here makes it worth ten times as much as the club membership costs. Ive been hurting for cash the last 6 months or so, so thats why I have been delaying joining, but I just sold a cue and now I got a little extra cash and I figured what better time than now to join!

I didnt join (and wont) b/c the membership offers virtually nothing on a return.
There is no exclusive content.
There are no member "discounts" anywhere.


This site makes plenty of bank off of links and survived just fine before it started selling these memberships.

Why would I pay to join a free club?
 
By contributing to the site, you give them the ability to maintain what is currently in place and to make the site better in various ways. Nobody knows what their overhead is for bandwidth, server/network hardware or hosting fees, and/or the technical/administrative overhead to maintaining / continued development of the site. Nobody knows what they receive from the advertising and retail sales, most likely not much. A yearly membership isn't much. You obviously use this site a lot, why not give back to it to help guarantee that it will stay around?

..If it ever gets to the point where Mike needs cash to stay afloat.. then all he has to do is ask and I will gladly contribute.

However offering a worthless product (little yellow bar by my name) will not open my wallet.

I have a Club Membership. I choose to support AZB...I love this site and heaven forbid it shuts down for lack of funds.I will be renewing my membership again this year.

Maybe AZB should offer a section for Club Members ONLY!?!?? A Club Member Sticky or Thread??? Something that is only offered to the paid members. JMO
 
Some will suckle the welfare tit........and some will work......AZ forums is a microcosim......why should it be any different here????

At one time I asked myself the same question. Why do I pay membership?

I know that I personally would not have maintained an interest in the game without a great forum like AZ to keep it going.

I do it because I appreciate the site, respect the knowledgable membership, and want it to continue to do well. In my opinion, I think it is one of the best tools to maintain interest in pool and to promote the game.

Members here have gotten information they could not easily obtain elewhere. For all that, the cost is peanuts.

Some understand the exchange of value constitutes commerce.. others cant count to 12... Why should it be any different here????

And value is a perception......I perceive the value of countless years of experience and talent gathered together in this forum priceless. The ability to pick the brains of some of pools most respected minds is well worth the paltry $35 each year. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12......just to clarify....Dan

Why would I pay to join a free club?

If you join now, you get a shot a one of our custom cues, 1 in 46 chance of winning a fine billiard instrument.

The increased pm storage is the best benefit for someone like me, who may send of receive 20 of 30 PM's a day.

You bring up a good point about discounts. There are sellers here that are considering discounts to Club members, I know there are many here looking for ways they can contribute, and that is a great suggestion.

The best thing about this whole deal is it is not a requirement, more of a recognition of your appreciation of your forum. Member of the AZ Club or not, you are still a member of the best forum for pool anywhere, and we are glad you are here.

No doubt... great site and I love it.. been here for years.

BUT

It is not worth 35 bucks a year.. it is free... if it was not free it would be worth money.

You bring up a good point about discounts. I will give anyone who joins a 10% discount on any cue order. I would also guess there are other sellers here that will offer discounts to Club members, I know there are many here looking for ways they can contribute, and that is a great suggestion.

Now if Mike really wanted to sell some little yellow banners he would talk to more guys like Hang'em.

If an AZ membership had bennies like:
1. Discounts at retailers advertised on the site
2. discounts on streams
3. Giveaways for signing up (willard tip tool/books/ shirt/yadda yadda)

.. then it would be a deal.

If the motive is hardtimes then Mike just says the word and my piggy bank is broken open.

If the motive is increased GP then I need some kisses before I hand over the ducketts.

Did you know that AZ supports at times some Pro's on being able to make it to certain professional tournaments? It is because of people that think like you that AZ is not getting the support that they deserve.
Have you realized that when you are typing and hitting you are using AZ resources? From electricity, hard drive space and even waste admins time if some nasty comment or bad post is started?
All of that is money! What about the bandwidth bill that they have to pay for this forum to be up and running?
What about the rent that AZ has to pay in order to have their severs in a clean, cool location? What about money that they spent with forum developers to develop custom modules to the forum? To you want me to go on? I have a list of stuff that won't fit on this post for sure...

As far as the pros making it to tournaments, people with and without memberships have donated to that cause. If it wasn't for people being able to post for free, I am sure that would not have happened to the level it has.

Regarding the rest of your points, I would be curious to know what % of the owner's money comes from memberships vs. banners and ad space they sell on the pages? Obviously that is where they make the most. I would assume the memberships are a nice little bonus, nothing more.

I am thankful for this site, and the work that has gone into it. That is why I have purchased lots of merchandise from companies advertising on here. I may buy something from the marketplace now that it is up. But I never have been concerned about the owners being able to pay their bills with or without my membership on the forums.

If for one second someone could tell me that the forums would go away without membership purchases, I would consider it. For those needing extra PM space, it makes sense. For those that do busniess on here regularly, it makes sense. For people like me who just want to talk about pool and maybe give a piece of our minds to someone that would never hear it outside of the internet, it is a personal choice, not an obligation.

Good for the owners for thinking of the concept, good for the people who have bought a membership. Maybe I will become a good person too, one day....

One of the reasons why I decided to join right away when they started the program and encourage others to do so is because the old site was really slow, crashed a lot, and was basically way under the needed bandwidth.

It was really frustrating. I figured once they raised some extra cash, Mike would get a better host package.

The last couple of years have been 100% better than the old days.

I figured - what the hell, I drink $35 bottles of wine - I'll just not drink one and give it to Mike.
