My DCC thread

If they sold a dvd of the Helfert one-p challenge, I'd buy it in a New York minute. How about you?

Was up all night as usual. I'll need some long rest after this one is over. Thank God the One Pocket Challenge is over. The Fatboy lasted until 4 AM, and we go at it again at Midnite. The big match is Johnny vs. Francisco. I make the winner the favorite to go all the way. They both played the best last night. This one could be a final, but it's not. Just the luck of the draw. We are going to try to get at least one semi and the final of the Fatboy on the Accu-Stats table.

I sweated some of Cliff vs. Efren in the One Pocket. Pretty sloppy play by both of them, with some good shooting sprinkled in. I couldn't stand to watch Cliff shoot, with that big hitch in his swing. Made me want to puke. You could definitely get out of stroke watching him. :(

The One Pocket HOF dinner is tonight. Harry Platis gets in for "Lifetime In Action" award, Parica for being a One Pocket great, Piggy Banks for being a Bank Pool legend and finally Fats for "Lifetime Achievement" award. I will speak on Fat's behalf. I'm thrilled and nervous. I will try to do an impression of Fats for the first time. Should be fun and maybe a little scary. I hope they don't boo me off the stage.

Great first post. Was the Mike Zimmerman? Havn't seen him since he moved to Portland 1 1/2 ago.

Thanks Jay,

from Jay

Mikey actually Moved down to Southern Oregon around Medford I think.Rumor had it that he made one trip to Portland to gamble but didn't do well.He is said to be working allot and playing little or not at all.I did see him and Linda at a casino tourney down there last summer.

Update on the Fatboy Challenge. Brandon Shuff defeated Beau Runningen 15-9, Efren over Santos 15-10 and Johnny squeaked by Francisco in the premier match of the evening 15-13. In a huge upset Shane fell to Shannon Murphy 15-14! Shannon now plays Brandon and Johnny faces Efren.

I made a side bet with Roy on Jeanette's match with Tedder, so I'm going to watch a game or two and head off to bed.

who are the final 4 in the Fat Boy?

I got some sleep and came back down at Noon today. Ran into an exhausted but elated JHendy (John Henderson). He told me he defeated Artie 7-5 in a match that lasted all night. 6K in the middle and more on the side. A great win for John and some redemption from his losses to Artie and Billy in Galveston.

A shocker I just heard about in the One Pocket tourney. 15 year old Brendan Crockett (the protege of Sal Butera) defeated Jon Hennessee in their match earlier today. This kid is coming on strong. Look out Landon!

Today is the last day of the One Pocket Challenge and the Fatboy Ten Ball starts tonight at Midnite. Another full day at the funny farm!

No one updated the chart.

Would somebody explain the rules of the 1-pocket challenge . I have not seen any of it and have got different versions from people i have asked . Thanx .

Brandon beat Shannon 15-9 and Efren beat Johnny 15-11. They play in the finals tomorrow at 1 PM.

Thank you Jay

The updates are much appreciated my man!. Could not make the trip this year (again) and have to hang on every word of yours to TRY to get that "Derby Adrenaline" feeling just a little tiny tiny bit. I know that your starting to burn out from lack of sleep and regular meals so I won't drag this out any more. Muchos Gracias.;)

Man, Efren is just simply amazing.
Just when you think he might be done he goes and shows everyone what this game is all about.
Just awesome!

Effie is the embodiment of that famous Mark Twain quote, "rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated". Every time he is counted out he finds a way to pull off big wins and high finishes.

He is just THAT good.

NEWS FLASH!!!

Frost beats Reyes PLAYING EVEN! Yes, it has finally happened. Scott Frost beat Efren 5-3 in a big dollar One Pocket match a short time ago. Efren offered him 8-7 and he turned it down. I didn't get to see the match but I heard they both played good.

The King is dead, long live the new King! I guess it finally had to happen. Efren had a near 20 year reign on top of the One Pocket world. I'm sure he's not done by any means at age 55, but I think we will now see more players (Gabe, Alex, Schmidt?) willing to play him even.

I did not get to see it but Scott called and was very happy about it, hopefully it will wake some people up and realize Scott is not the same player from 10 years back. I do think in a race to 5 it can go either way and Scott won, would love to sweat them playing a long race say to 21 or something. Scott said he played very well. :)

I watched it. THere was no commentary. It was on accustats. Pat Fleming came on halfway through the match for a minute and said it was a race to 5 for 1500 and it was even. But he spoke in a way that sounded like he was not totally sure of the details.

Efren sold out a couple of times that cost him 2 games. It was an exciting match to watch.

How was the play?, I am sure it was exciting, hopefully there will be a vid available soon. Scott will be riding the high and hopefully snap off the tourney, he said there were 9 left, Daulton and Busty have losses too and Gabe is out. :)
